Bulgarian is written in Cyrillic, and for most learners that script is the first wall. Wordful Bulgarian starts you at the letters and carries you through to the words people actually use in Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna.
WRITE КИРИЛИЦА WITH YOUR FINGER
The alphabet lesson is not a chart to memorize. Every letter arrives as a path you draw yourself — you trace it on screen stroke by stroke, following the direction and order a Bulgarian hand would use, with the guide fading as you get steadier. Reading practice sits beside the writing, so а, б, в, г, д stop being decoration and become shapes you can produce from memory.
LESSONS SHAPED AROUND A DAY HERE
Topics follow ordinary Bulgarian life: buying баница at the bakery, asking what something costs in lev, ordering a rakia, finding the right bus. Each one brings new words plus listening and reading drills, and fresh activities land regularly. A separate Context track drops the same vocabulary into whole situations, because recognising хляб and knowing how to ask for bread are two different skills.
IT REMEMBERS, AND IT NUDGES
Your place is kept as you move, and the app tells you what to tackle next — so it opens on a decision already made rather than a blank menu. Anything you answer wrong or skip past gets marked and comes back around later, which means the shaky vocabulary is the vocabulary you see again, instead of the part that quietly disappears.
RUNS WITH THE WIFI OFF
Letter tracing, word lessons, listening, reading and Context practice all work in airplane mode. There is no account to make, no sign-up before you can begin, nothing gathered about you, and no advertising anywhere in the app. The content and the design are safe for children.
The opening words of every topic cost nothing. A single purchase opens the rest and keeps it open — and whatever gets added later is already included.
You set the language you study from and the language the app talks to you in separately, so they do not have to match.
Wordful Bulgarian covers one language properly rather than thirty loosely. Other languages have their own apps in the Wordful line.
