Most pianists stop because nothing tells them they are getting better. Étude keeps every take, dated, and plays your first against your latest — so you hear it yourself. Most pianists stop playing. Not because they can't play — because nothing tells them they are getting better, and after a while they decide they never will. Progress is too slow to hear. Day to day, nothing changes. You are inside your own playing, and you have nothing to compare it to except the memory of yesterday, which is a bad witness. Étude fixes that one thing. WHAT IT DOES Every take, kept Put your phone on the piano and play. Each take is recorded, dated, and drawn as a trace — a shape made from the sound you actually produced. Nothing to fill in, nothing to rate. Day 1 against today Your first recording of a piece and your latest one, laid over each other and played back to back. Not a chart telling you what to think. Your own playing, months apart, one after the other. Three months on one screen Every trace of a piece in a single grid, oldest to newest. Pick any two and compare them. Share the difference Export a still card with both traces and both dates, ready to send to whoever has been asking how it is going. WHO IT'S FOR Adults coming back to the piano after years away. Students between lessons. Anyone who practises alone and has no idea whether it is working. HOW IT WORKS Put your phone on the piano. Press record. Play. Name the piece afterwards. That's it. PRIVACY Your recordings stay on your device. No account, no sign-up, no upload. You can delete everything at once from Settings. ÉTUDE FULL Recording, traces and playback are free and unlimited, forever. Étude Full adds two things: comparing takes of a piece beyond the first ten, and the export card without the Étude mark. $14.99 a month, or $119.99 a year with a one-week free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
