Lithium-ion batteries wear out fastest when they sit at 100% charge. AutoBattery keeps your Mac's battery in the range where it lasts, by switching your charger's smart plug off when you hit your upper limit and back on when you drop to your lower one.
The difference from other charge limiters: AutoBattery cuts the power at the outlet. No current reaches your Mac at all.
HOW IT WORKS
Plug your Mac's charger into a TP-Link Tapo smart plug. Sign in, pick the plug, choose your limits. AutoBattery watches your battery and switches the plug for you.
WHAT YOU GET
• Set a resume limit and a stop limit, 30% and 80% by default
• A menu bar ring showing the exact charge, colour-coded to your limits
• Keep charging and No charging locks, for when you want to override the rule
• Choose how often it checks: 30 seconds to 15 minutes
• Opens at login, stays out of the way
• English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish and Italian
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
AutoBattery talks only to the plug on your local network. No analytics, no accounts, no servers. Your Tapo password lives in the macOS Keychain and is used for one thing: authenticating to your own plug.
WHAT YOU NEED
• macOS 15 or later
• A TP-Link Tapo smart plug (P100, P105, P110, P110M, P115, P300, P304, P304M or P316) on the same network as your Mac
• A Tapo account
• Third-Party Compatibility switched on in the Tapo app, under Me > Third-Party Services. TP-Link disables local control by default; without this setting no app can reach your plug.
