UbiVision TV turns an Apple TV into the display of your examination room: optotypes on the wall, sized to match the test distance you set. You control it from your iPhone while standing at the phoropter — or directly with the Siri Remote.

PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING
This app is an add-on, not a standalone application. You will need:
· UbiVision on iPad or iPhone
· an active UbiVision subscription
· Apple TV and iPhone on the same Wi-Fi network
Without these, the app is of no use to you.

SIZES ARE MEASURED, NOT GUESSED
An optotype is only an optotype if its size is right. Calibrate the screen once using an ordinary bank card or the screen diagonal — from then on the app knows your display's pixel density and derives every character size from it. A blanket screen-size recommendation is no substitute.
Test distances 2.0 – 6.0 m. Acuity levels 0.05 – 2.0.

WHAT THE SCREEN SHOWS
All six optotype sets:
· Snellen letters
· Landolt rings
· Sloan letters
· Sloan numbers
· Tumbling E
· Children's symbols
Four special tests:
· Red-green test
· Schober test
· Cross cylinder
· Radial dial
Presentation:
· One or two rows
· Second row at the same or the next acuity level
· Shuffle for fresh random characters
· The header fades out as soon as the iPhone connects — the patient sees only the optotypes

CONTROL FROM THE PHOROPTER
The UbiVision app on your iPhone finds the Apple TV on the same network by itself. From there you set:
· Acuity up and down
· Shuffle the optotypes
· Switch optotype set and test
· One or two rows
· Test distance
The Siri Remote remains usable at any time.

SIGNING IN WITHOUT TYPING
Entering a password with a remote control is a nuisance. Instead the screen shows six characters that you confirm on your iPhone or computer — after that the device is signed in and stays signed in.

WHAT STAYS ON THE IPAD
Near vision tests, reading charts and the Amsler grid are defined for close range — the Amsler grid for a viewing distance of 30 cm. On a screen at test distance they would not be small, they would be wrong. They stay where they belong: in the patient's hands, on the iPad.

A NOTE ON THE COLOUR TESTS
Picture mode, colour temperature and tone mapping of a television are beyond our control and distort the red-green comparison. The app points this out the first time you open one: set picture mode to "Neutral" or "Movie" and switch off dynamic contrast.

The Siri Remote controls the refraction again.
· Siri Remote: up and down change the acuity, left and right the distance, Play/Pause reshuffles the optotypes. Since version 1.0 the refraction could only be operated from the iPhone.
· Privacy: the policy is now available directly in the app, under Settings.
· Settings show the version and build number and can be scrolled through completely.
