Zephyr is an independent, open-source client for Dropbox, written in Swift and built on Apple's File Provider framework. Your files appear in Finder under Cloud Storage and download only when you open them — nothing is mirrored, so a terabyte account costs no local disk. It is built on the macOS File Provider system, so the Finder, Quick Look, the share sheet, and the Open and Save dialogs treat Dropbox files the way they treat local ones. There is no watched folder and no background scan. FEATURES • Link several Dropbox accounts at once. Each gets its own place in the Finder sidebar and its own sync index. • Two-way sync over Dropbox's change feed: a file edited on another machine turns up in seconds, and what you save goes back the same way. • Every transfer is checked against Dropbox's content hash, in both directions, and a large upload interrupted partway resumes instead of starting over. • The Finder shows real image thumbnails for pictures you have never downloaded. • Browse a file's recent revisions from the Finder and put an older one back. Renames and moves are followed, so a rename doesn't end a file's history. • Delete something from Dropbox but keep it on this Mac, and put it back later, straight from the Finder. Exclusions use com.dropbox.ignored, the same extended attribute the official client uses, so a file excluded in one client stays excluded in the other. • Send files to Dropbox from any app's Share menu, up to 20 at a time, into any folder you choose. • Six Shortcuts actions: pause syncing, snooze notifications, check sync status, upload a file, get a share link, and restore an earlier revision. Three of them work from Spotlight and Siri with no setup, and syncing can be paused from Control Center. • Upload and download limits from 250 kB/s to 100 MB/s or unlimited, plus a separate cap for metered connections, so a laptop on a hotspot doesn't walk your whole Dropbox unasked. • Four notification levels, from every file change down to none at all, and a snooze for 30 minutes, an hour, or eight hours. Everything held back arrives when the snooze ends. • A menu bar panel for current activity, a desktop widget for status, and notifications when something needs attention. • Anything that could not sync is collected in one window that says what failed and why. • When Dropbox invalidates the sync cursor, Zephyr re-lists the account on its own. Your Finder tags, favorites, and exclusions come through it intact. • Works with Dropbox Business team spaces, and follows the change when you join or leave a team. Zephyr is free software under the MIT license; the full source is on GitHub. Zephyr is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Dropbox, Inc. It is an independent client built against Dropbox's public HTTP API. Dropbox is a trademark of Dropbox, Inc.

New • Keep a folder or a file downloaded on this Mac. A kept item is fetched right away, stays current as it changes on Dropbox, and is never evicted to reclaim disk space. Right-click an item in Finder and choose Keep Downloaded on This Mac; Stop Keeping Downloaded on This Mac hands the space back. Zephyr's Settings lists everything you are keeping downloaded. Changed • Zephyr's website has moved to zephyrmac.app. Fixed • Putting an item back on Dropbox and resuming its syncing now works. It reported that the file did not exist, and a folder came back empty on both sides even though its contents were still held on this Mac. Putting a folder back now restores everything beneath it, subfolders included. • A Dropbox outage no longer reads as a broken account: a token request Dropbox answers with a server error or a rate limit is retried, and one that keeps failing reports a connection problem instead of asking you to relink. • Renaming or moving many files at once no longer stalls. Zephyr sends Dropbox one change at a time instead of racing them into its rate limit, and a rename Dropbox has already made no longer shows up as a sync issue.
