Mouse Aide is now in Simplified Chinese as well as English. It follows your Mac's language: on a Mac set to Simplified Chinese, the menu, Settings and Setup appear in Chinese. Settings now checks for other mouse software each time it opens, and reports a background agent as still installed only once its app has been removed.

Middle click with a tap or a key: open a link in a new tab with a three-finger tap on your Mac's trackpad, or by holding Fn as you click. MIDDLE CLICK Each mouse and trackpad now has a Middle click section on its own page in Mouse Aide's Settings. Its switches start off, so nothing changes until you turn one on. • Tap with three fingers — tap a link with three fingers on your Mac's trackpad and it opens in a new tab, just like the middle button on a mouse. The timing follows the double-click speed set for your Mac, and the trackpad's own gestures keep working as before. If your trackpad already uses three fingers for Look Up or for dragging, the switch shows Paused and waits, so a tap has one job. If another running app already adds a three-finger middle click, Settings says so. • Hold Fn and click — hold Fn (the globe key) on your Mac's keyboard as you click with a mouse or trackpad whose switch is on, and the click becomes a middle click. A device's page appears in Settings once you have scrolled with it. IF THE PERMISSION IS SWITCHED OFF If the permission is switched off while Mouse Aide is running, Mouse Aide steps aside, opens Setup, and picks up again by itself when the permission is back. ON MACOS 27 Setup and the menu now use the name macOS 27 gives the permission Mouse Aide needs: Device Control and Data Access. Earlier versions of macOS call it Accessibility. SMALLER THINGS The menu bar icon updates the moment you change Adjust scrolling, and the menu now links to the privacy policy. Setup's steps for an out-of-date entry in the permission list now fit whether or not the entry is still listed.

Mouse Aide now opens when you open it, and can start automatically when you log in. IF SETUP DIDN'T GO SMOOTHLY Opening Mouse Aide from your Applications folder now brings up its window — before, nothing happened at all. The setup screen waits longer before suggesting anything is wrong, tells you where to find the switch in System Settings, and always offers a way to try again. START WHEN YOU LOG IN When setup finishes you can choose to have Mouse Aide start with your Mac, so scrolling still works after a restart. It's a checkbox, off until you tick it, and you can change it any time in Settings. CONTACT SUPPORT A new item in the menu bar opens an email to us with your version and permission status already filled in, so a question can be answered in one reply instead of three. SMALLER THINGS The menu bar icon now shows a warning when Mouse Aide isn't able to adjust scrolling. And the setup window stays open until you close it, and points out where the app lives.

Mouse Scroll is now Mouse Aide — same app, same settings — and your spare mouse buttons can do more. THE NEW NAME Everything you had set is exactly where you left it, and scrolling keeps working without you doing anything. Only the name has changed. MORE TO PUT ON A BUTTON Point a spare button at any app you choose, or at Copy, Paste or New Tab — alongside Mission Control, the app launcher, Back and Forward. Set separately for every mouse, and the left and right buttons are still protected. FIXES Forgetting a device now clears its button settings instead of bringing them back when the mouse reconnects. A button can no longer be left looking held down if macOS interrupts the app. Two mice using the same button number no longer confuse each other. And the setup window now describes exactly what the app reads.

You can now customize your mouse buttons, and each device keeps its own settings. CUSTOMIZE THE SPARE BUTTONS Give the middle and side buttons a job: Mission Control, the app launcher, or back and forward. The left and right buttons are protected, so a mistake can never leave you unable to click. EVERY MOUSE AND TRACKPAD, SET SEPARATELY Your devices now appear by their own names, each keeping its own direction, speed and sideways key. Two mice can be set completely differently. Everything you had set before carries over.
