Smart categories Bookwell now learns which category and account you use for each store. Type a payee and both are filled in for you. Change the category on one entry and Bookwell offers to update your other entries from the same store too. It all happens on your device, and you can turn it off in Settings. Apple Pay Auto-Save Pay with Apple Pay and the purchase is recorded in Bookwell automatically, with the account and category already chosen. Set it up once in Settings, then Apple Pay Auto-Save. Faster and more secure Quick add opens instantly, screens load faster with large ledgers, and Bookwell hides purchase details on the Lock Screen. Connect any AI assistant The connector works with ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and any assistant that supports MCP connectors, with clearer setup steps.

Bookwell 1.3 brings a smarter assistant, receipt scanning, and a way to use Bookwell with your favorite AI assistant. Ask Bookwell, rebuilt Ask Bookwell now uses Apple Intelligence on your device to understand your questions and answer with your real figures. Ask how this month compares to last, where your money is going, how your budgets are doing, or what you spent on dinners lately. To record something, just type it, like "I spent 25 on lunch with my Visa." Your questions and data never leave your device. Scan receipts Take a photo of a receipt, or choose one from Photos or Files, and Bookwell reads the store, date, total and category for you, right on your device. Splitting the bill? Pick just your items and Bookwell records only your share. You can also attach a receipt to an entry you already recorded, and the photo stays with the entry. Start a scan from Home, a new entry, or the Scan Receipt control in Control Center and on the Lock Screen. Connect AI assistants New in Settings, Connect AI Assistants lets you use Bookwell with Claude and other assistants that support connectors. Ask about your balances, spending and budgets, or record expenses right from your assistant. It's completely optional, and you sign in with your own Apple Account. Cards now show what you owe as a clear amount instead of adding to your balance. Home shows the money you actually have, with what you owe on cards listed separately, and Net Worth subtracts it. When unfolded or on iPad, Ask Bookwell opens as a floating card beside your accounts so you can keep working. When folded, it opens as a half height sheet. Your conversation follows you either way. Improvements and fixes Amount fields start empty, so typing a number no longer adds to a leftover zero. Entries without a title now show their category name everywhere.
