Each month, Democracy Book Club picks one handpicked book for you to read that details lessons from history, abuses of power happening now, and dangerous trends in the U.S. and across the world that threaten democracy, along with people who have successfully pushed back against these threats. Knowledge is power, and by learning from the past, we’ll be better positioned to shape the future.
With each book, we’ll share relevant actions that you can take as an individual and together with your book club and community, organizations to support, and articles and films to go deeper.
We can’t solve the country’s problems, or even fully process them, without the support of others. Democracy Book Club isn’t just about the books; it’s about the people you read and discuss them with, people who come with a variety of viewpoints and experiences. We’ll provide questions and topics to help guide your conversations, but what you end up focusing on in your meetings is entirely up to you.
Democracy Book Club is both a local and national initiative. Organizers host their own in-person monthly meetings, and additionally, all participants can log into our app and discuss with others reading the same book in different pockets of the country.
We can’t wait to connect and hear your thoughts on the book and the current landscape of the country, and how you’re being motivated to act. We’re here to exchange ideas, discuss crucial topics, and work together to make an impact.
