See departures grouped by direction or destination, with countdowns, route badges, and platform information when available. Switch between supported systems at shared stops, reopen recent stops, and check official service alerts where provided.
FOLLOW SUBWAY SERVICE CHANGES
MTA subway departures include trains temporarily rerouted through your stop when reported by the official feeds. Temporary routes appear after the stop's regular routes. Tap a marked route badge for that line's operating alerts and affected locations. Service-alert text includes inline route, wheelchair-accessibility, and shuttle-bus symbols where provided.
A CLEAR VIEW OF YOUR STOP
Route-colored backgrounds, translucent cards, and readable countdowns adapt to light and dark mode. Stop headers can show a station photo when a matching image is available.
NEARBY DEPARTURES ON YOUR HOME SCREEN
Add a Small or Medium Nearby Departures widget. Each shows up to two directions at the nearest supported stop: Small displays up to two departures per direction, and Medium up to four. iOS controls widget refreshes; open the app for the latest available information.

Include the transit systems you want in each area. Your choices apply to nearby stops, search, and the widget. Search by stop, route, or system within your selected area, or pull down to refresh a departure board.
NYC SUBWAY NEWS
On a compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled and ready, MetroMinute can show an in-app notice for a subway shooting reported to have occurred that New York calendar day. Open the notice for source links. News is checked while the app is active, no more often than hourly, and notices expire at midnight New York time. Reports can be delayed, missed, or misclassified. This is not an emergency alert service, a safety assessment, or an indication that a threat is ongoing. There are no push alerts.
OPTIONAL LOCATION
Allow location access to find the nearest supported stop, or choose an area and stop manually. The widget needs in-use location permission. Coordinates are processed on your device and are not included in transit, photo, or news requests.
No account, advertising, analytics, or continuous background location tracking. MetroMinute does not provide maps, trip planning, or ticket sales. Departures and service alerts work without Apple Intelligence.
Station photos are requested from Wikipedia and image hosts using a reviewed station article title. The title can indicate the area you are viewing or near. Photos are illustrative and may be missing or mismatched; use the stop name and official signage to identify your stop.
Transit information comes from third-party services and can be delayed, changed, or unavailable. A countdown or boarding status does not guarantee that a vehicle can still be boarded. Follow official signage and staff guidance.
