For You is now the first tab, and a home for your reading. • A card at the top turns through what you're reading, your next picks with their verdict, your Reading Insights and your year in books. • New this month and Popular right now show what everyone is reading, from the Apple Books top charts. • Tap any of them to read about it and add it to your shelf.

Predictions now speak plainly. Instead of a percentage, every book you haven't read gets a verdict, like "You'll love it" or "Worth a look", and its page says in a sentence why. • For You fills in as soon as an import finishes. Before, it could stay empty until you pulled to refresh. • Easier reading in dark mode: brighter verdicts and solid genre chips.

Two widgets, for your Home Screen and your Lock Screen. • Currently Reading: the books on your Reading shelf, with their covers and how many days you've been reading each one. The medium size shows three, and tapping a book opens it. • This Year: how many books you've finished this year and, once you have a year behind you, how that compares with this time last year. The medium size adds covers of your latest finishes. They keep up on their own, so the day count moves on overnight without opening the app. Both are free.

A fix for books that showed up twice. When iCloud caught up between your devices, a book you had added on both could appear in your library twice. Next Chapter now finds those copies and merges them into one, keeping the copy you added first. Your rating, the furthest shelf you reached, both sets of notes, favorites and dates all carry over, so nothing you wrote is lost. Sorry if you saw double. Happy reading.

New insights show how often we predicted your verdict, the books you rated far from other readers, how this year compares with your usual and with last year, and your longest book on a shelf of the whole year. Then share it as a card made from your year alone, with no book covers. Find it on For You once you've finished a book this year, and look back at earlier years from there. Links to your year in books open straight to it, too.

Import your reading history from Libby. Your library loans come across as books you have read, with the dates, ready to rate. Also fixed: exports saved with Windows line endings failed to import at all. Any export that would not open before should work now.
