Acid Studio is a visual creation workshop for macOS. Build animations from procedural patterns, typography, particles and graphic effects, then adjust their parameters to create your own variations.
CREATE AND EXPERIMENT
Browse a library of generative creations and change their appearance by adjusting the colors, shapes, motion and parameters available for each creation.
COMPOSE AND ANIMATE
Arrange your elements as layers in a multitrack editor. Animate position, scale, rotation, opacity and supported parameters with keyframes. Refine timing with the playhead, timeline zoom and selection tools. Duplicate, split and lock layers, and use Undo and Redo to revisit your edits.
WORK WITH TYPOGRAPHY
Add text to your compositions and animate its properties. Explore available fonts and combine typography, images and effects in the same project.
CONNECT IMAGE AND SOUND
Import audio files and explore audio-reactive creations. Features that use a microphone, camera or MIDI controller depend on your hardware and the permissions you grant.
PRESENT AND EXPORT
Display your animations in full screen or in a projection window. Save projects to continue working later and export your creations as video. HDR options depend on the selected format and compatible hardware; playback varies by player and display.
A STANDALONE APP
The Mac app works without creating an account. Your projects and imported media are stored locally.

Over 110 new generative creations in eight collections: Hypno Lab (kinetic and optical illusions), OP ART, Optical Lab, Glitch Lab, Punk Lab, Spectral Lab, AV Lab and Extreme Lab, inspired by the methods of leading audiovisual artists. Each offers many controls and loops seamlessly.
Over 40 new image effects. Optical effects always start from your video and transform it rather than replace it.
The centre of rings, spirals and tunnels can be set in the Structure section. Canvas rotation and zoom turn around an adjustable centre, in the middle by default.
Faster: quicker launch, HDR WebM export about 20 times faster, GPU layer compositing, optimised HEVC encoder.
Flashes, cuts and inversions in the new creations are limited to 3 per second.
