Mirino: Star Finder

Explore your night sky

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Mirino turns your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch into a simple, intuitive star finder. Want to know where a planet or constellation is in the night sky? Choose it from our catalog and follow the compass guides. Wondering what you're looking at? Just point your device at it. Every object has a large picture and a full description. FIND Choose the Moon, a planet, a space station, a star or constellation, a galaxy, a meteor shower or the Milky Way from the catalog. Guide dots on the compass lead you to it and, when your aim is right, the target's picture appears. DISCOVER Switch to Discover mode and sweep your device across the sky. Mirino shows you what you're pointing at, with its name and a beautiful image that updates as you move. Turn your device sideways for a larger picture. ON YOUR WRIST Mirino on Apple Watch works without your iPhone. Raise your wrist: haptic taps steer you left or right, tones say higher or lower, and a chime sounds on target. Or point at the sky and see what's there. Add Mirino to a watch face to open Find, Discover or a favorite object in one tap. GO DEEPER Descriptions open onto what lies within: every planet's moons, features of the Sun, Moon and Mars, the comets behind meteor showers, and gems like the Pillars of Creation and the Horsehead Nebula. SEE THE SKY BEHIND THE COMPASS Set the camera to Scope or Full to see the live sky behind the compass rose. On dark nights, Night Boost brightens the view. Constellation images turn to match the sky, with optional star names and true star colors. PATH IN THE SKY Tap the center of the compass, with the camera on, to draw your target's path across the sky: from rise to set, hour by hour. Each description adds a graph of how high it climbs tonight. LIVE SKY Turn the compass ring, or touch and hold its picture, and your target flies onto the sky. A constellation's stars and lines are drawn over the camera where they really are; any other object is enlarged and pinned to its place. TONIGHT One tap lists tonight's best sights: the Moon, the brightest planets, space station passes, meteor showers near their peak, and the finest stars and deep-sky objects. Tap one and Mirino guides you to it, or tap its bell for a reminder. Alerts flag supermoons, lunar eclipses, meteor peaks and planets at their best. A forecast for the dark hours shows cloud, wind and rain. • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

• Mirino is now on Apple Watch, and works on its own, without your iPhone. • Find on your wrist: choose a target, raise your wrist and turn. Haptic taps steer you left or right, a high or low sound tells you to aim higher or lower, and a chime and a green flash say you're on target. Turn on Spoken Guidance to hear where to look. • Discover on your wrist: point at the sky to see the picture and hear the name of the star planet or constellation in front of you. Tap the picture for its description and tonight's rise and set times. • Two ways to aim: Look Through, with the target right behind the watch, or Color Guide, where the screen turns from red to green as you close in and you aim along the watch face. Calibrate on the Moon, Jupiter or a bright star for extra accuracy. • Add Mirino to your watch face to open Find, Discover or a favorite object, like the Moon or Saturn, in one tap. • Red Mode is also on the watch to help with your night vision • Mirino reminder notifications open straight into Find mode when you tap them. • Already have Pro? It unlocks the watch app too, with nothing more to buy.
