RF Modeller predicts radio coverage over real terrain. Place transmitter sites on a map, set their RF parameters, and see where usable signal actually reaches — accounting for the shape of the ground, land-cover clutter and the antenna's own pattern.
ENGINEERING-GRADE PROPAGATION
• ITU-R P.1812-7 as the primary model, plus Longley-Rice (NTIA ITM), Extended Hata and free space.
• Numerically validated against the ITU WP3K reference profile suites — P.1812 63/63, P.452-18 595/595, P.452-17 280/280, and the full ITM set.
• 100 MHz to 6 GHz, vertical and horizontal polarisation throughout.
• Per site: frequency, power in dBm or watts (EIRP, ERP or TPO), antenna height, azimuth, electrical and mechanical tilt, receiver height and maximum modelling range.
• Antennas: isotropic, dipole, a 3GPP TR 38.901 sector with settable horizontal and vertical beamwidths, or your own MSI Planet (.msi/.pln) pattern files.
• Point-to-point path profile inspector: terrain, line of sight, the first Fresnel zone, worst clearance and the full link budget — exportable as a PDF.
REAL TERRAIN AND REAL CLUTTER
Elevation comes from the Geoscience Australia 1-second SRTM DEM (30 m, Australia-wide) with Copernicus GLO-30 as the global fallback. Land cover comes from ESA WorldCover at 10 m, mapped to the representative clutter heights P.1812 expects. Everything is fetched on demand and cached locally, so a second run over the same ground needs no network at all.
PRESENTATION THAT MATCHES THE STANDARD
Show coverage in your own configurable dBm bands, or switch to the ACMA Mobile Coverage Map Standard 2026 view (F2026L00381) — Good, Moderate and Basic bands with the mandated modelling assumptions, legend wording and disclaimers already in place. Add distance rings around each tower, and hover anywhere for coordinates, ground altitude, land-cover class with clutter height, and the modelled signal at that point.
MAPS AND TOWER DATA
Apple standard and satellite basemaps, Queensland sub-metre state aerial imagery, the Digital Earth Australia cloud-free Landsat mosaic, GA Topographic, EOX Sentinel-2, and optionally Google Satellite with your own Map Tiles API key. Import real registered transmitters straight from the ACMA Register of Radiocommunications Licences — licensed frequency, EIRP, height, azimuth, tilt, polarisation and antenna characteristics included.
WORKFLOW
Projects save as .rfproj documents with their computed coverage inside, so reopening is instant, and every edit is undoable. Bring sites in from KML or KMZ, or paste a Google Earth pin. Send results out as a Google Earth KMZ or a 4K map image complete with basemap, rings, markers, legend and attribution.
