ROUTE BOOKS
Overviews of six snow regions across China — season windows, elevation bands, classic line references. The route library is built by skiers: record a track or import a GPX to create your own, and every shared route carries its source and verification status, with unverified ones clearly flagged.
TRACKING
One-tap track recording with distance, ascent and descent stats. GPX import/export works with any device.
NAVIGATION
Follow routes with off-route voice alerts. Download offline map packs and navigate with zero signal.
SAFETY TOOLKIT
· SOS: press and hold 3 seconds to open a pre-filled message with your coordinates, addressed to your emergency contacts — you confirm the send
· Watchdog: set a return time and heartbeat; if it lapses, the app alerts you prominently to check in or call for help
· Pre-trip checklists and retreat point management
Safety note: backcountry skiing is inherently risky. Powtrail is an assistive tool — not a substitute for avalanche training, guides, or emergency equipment. SOS needs cellular signal and your confirmation to send, and delivery is never guaranteed in the mountains; the watchdog alert requires the app to be running. Always carry independent emergency communication (e.g. a satellite communicator) and share your trip plan with someone.
POWTRAIL PRO
The free tier includes all safety features, route browsing, tracking, GPX import/export, trip pack import, and one offline map area. Pro unlocks three things: (1) unlimited offline map areas, (2) unlimited place search (10 per day on free), (3) trip pack (.yxpack) export and sharing — importing someone else's trip pack is always free. The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial; a monthly plan is also available. Prices are shown in the app and on the App Store for your region. Subscriptions bill through the App Store, auto-renew, and can be cancelled anytime; cancelling during the trial is free.
