Chinese Cue
Try saying it in Chinese
$0.99
Know some Chinese but struggle to find the words? Try saying everyday sentences yourself, then reveal an example and listen. For learners with a foundation in Chinese.
Read a sentence. Try saying it in Chinese.
Chinese Cue helps you practice expressing everyday ideas in Chinese. Read a sentence in a language you know, imagine yourself in the situation, and try saying it in Chinese. Then reveal a reference expression and listen to the audio.
FOR LEARNERS WITH SOME CHINESE
Chinese Cue is designed for learners who already know basic vocabulary and sentence patterns and can understand simple Chinese sentences.
If you recognize an expression when you see it but struggle to find the words yourself, this gives you a way to practice.
This is not a course for absolute beginners. It does not teach pinyin, Chinese characters, or basic vocabulary from the beginning. If you have only been learning Chinese for a few days, build a foundation first so you can get more out of the practice.
EVERYDAY LANGUAGE, IN CONTEXT
Ordering at a café, picking up a parcel, asking for directions—practice with situations you may encounter in everyday life.
The context gives you a reason to speak: who you are talking to, what is happening, and what you want to express.
Trying before you reveal gives you a chance to recall words and put a sentence together yourself. Comparing your attempt with the reference can help you notice useful phrases, sentence patterns, and expressions you want to practice again.
Through practice and listening in context, you can gradually develop a feel for Chinese wording, rhythm, and what fits the situation.
ONE IDEA, DIFFERENT WAYS TO SAY IT
The reference expression offers one way to communicate the idea. It is not the only possible answer, and you do not need to match it word for word.
Try using the words you already know. Notice other ways to express the same meaning, and make room for your own choices.
Chinese Cue offers another learning method to use alongside your lessons, reading, listening, and conversations.
WHAT YOU CAN PRACTICE
• 103 everyday scenarios with 227 dialogue cards

PRACTICE AT YOUR OWN PACE
Reveal the Chinese when you are ready. Listen to the audio and try saying the sentence again.
Assess your own recall: you can say it, you almost have it, or you cannot say it yet. You can also move to another card and assess it later.
Save useful dialogue cards and readings. Revisit your saved cards, cards you are learning, and cards you have marked as learned.
The ratings reflect your own assessment. Chinese Cue does not record your voice or automatically score your pronunciation.
CHOOSE YOUR LEARNING LANGUAGE
Use English, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Vietnamese for prompts and explanations while practicing Chinese.
The included learning content and audio work offline. Optional web translation requires an internet connection.
No account is required. Your saved cards and learning progress stay on your device and do not sync between devices.
Available on iPhone and iPad.
