Milepost is a letter you seal tonight and cannot reopen until you have walked to it.
Write it, seal it, walk it there. Once the wax is on, the letter is unreadable even to you, and the only thing that moves it is your own walking: 1,000 steps become one mile, one for one.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Write to your future self, or to someone you can't say it to.
2. Seal it and choose the distance: 30, 70, 210 or 490 miles, or your own between 10 and 1,000.
3. Walk. It opens the day you arrive, not a step sooner.
THERE IS NO CLOCK
Nothing here arrives because a date came round. A letter moves when you walk and stands still when you don't — and standing still costs you nothing. It never expires, never disappears and never slides backwards. It is on the road, waiting for you. The rate is posted in Settings and never changes. The only thing ever shaved off is a daily cap of 30,000 steps, there to catch a broken sensor, not to catch you walking.
NOTHING EVER WRITES BACK
What comes back from the road is a postmark and a postcard from the waystation you passed — a place, a night, a bit of weather. Milepost will never generate a reply in the voice of the person you wrote to. Not an ex, not a parent, not someone who has died. Those words would not be theirs, and this app will not put them in their mouth.

IF YOUR STEPS CAN'T BE READ
If you decline motion access, or your device has no pedometer, the app stays fully usable: the waystations inch a letter along at three miles a day — far slower than walking, and the only exception there is.
PRIVACY
There is no account and no sign-in. Your letters, the names you address them to, and the line you add after opening one are stored only in this app on this phone. Nothing is uploaded unless you switch on iCloud backup yourself, and that goes into your own iCloud, encrypted. Steps are read through Apple's motion sensor (CoreMotion) for one purpose — moving your letters — and never leave this device; Milepost asks for neither Health data nor your location. The only thing the app ever sends is an anonymous usage count: an event name and numbers from a fixed list. Never the letter. Never a recipient's name. Never a character you typed. It is on by default, sends nothing at all before you have finished the introduction on first launch, and can be switched off at any time in Settings. There are no advertising SDKs and no analytics SDKs in this app.
THE WAYSTATION
$1.99 per week, $19.99 per year with the first 3 days free, or $49.99 once for lifetime access. Prices are in US dollars; your own App Store shows the amount in your currency. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. The lifetime purchase is not a subscription and never renews.
