Most affirmation apps hand everyone the same lines. Balm starts by asking what you are carrying, illness, grief, the end of a relationship, the first months with a baby, looking after someone who needs you, or a good stretch you want to hold on to, and gives you words written for that.
The widgets are the point. Put a line on your lock screen and home screen and it meets you before you have opened anything.
You also set how hard it pushes. Some days you need to be witnessed, not motivated. Balm moves from quiet acknowledgement through to something braver, and you choose where it sits each session.
