MORE THAN REGULAR DELETION
Before a file is removed, Drop & Forget:
• Replaces its original filename with a random name
• Removes the original file extension
• Removes accessible extended attributes and metadata
• Overwrites accessible file contents
• Synchronizes the changes to storage
• Deletes the file without using the Trash
FILES AND COMPLETE FOLDERS
Drop & Forget can process individual files or recursively delete complete folder structures. Symbolic links are handled without following them to files outside the selected folder.
CLEAR RESULTS
See which files were successfully deleted, skipped, partially processed, or could not be removed.
BUILT FOR PRIVACY
Processing happens locally on your Mac. No files are uploaded, analyzed, or sent to an external service.
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS
Deleting a file cannot remove copies stored in backups, APFS snapshots, cloud services, or on other devices.
Modern SSDs use wear leveling, and APFS may retain earlier storage blocks. For this reason, complete physical erasure cannot be guaranteed. Drop & Forget overwrites the accessible contents of a file before deletion, making conventional file recovery significantly more difficult.
Drop & Forget is designed for files you no longer need. Deletion is irreversible and does not use the Trash.
