HotShot is a menu-bar capture tool. Take the shot, clean it up, send it — without leaving the app. Every capture and recording opens straight into an editor, so you don't end up with a folder of untitled PNGs to sort out later. FEATURES Capture • Your whole screen, a single window, or a selection you drag out • Pick a window from a floating panel of live thumbnails • Put a delay on any capture or recording, for menus and hover states • Hide desktop icons before the shot — your wallpaper stays exactly as it is, and your Finder windows stay open Record • Record your screen or a single window • Add a webcam bubble, or narrate with your microphone • Trim on a filmstrip, and crop the footage itself Mark up • Rectangles, ellipses, arrows, lines, callouts, crosses, crosshairs, text, and notes • Marquee multi-select, snap-to-edge guides, and Option-drag to duplicate • A pixel loupe for lining things up exactly • Crop the whole canvas Frame a recording • Drop it on a backdrop: a colour, your own picture, or transparent • Aspect ratio, padding, corner rounding, and a shadow or glow • Everything previews live and applies to the export Compose • Arrange several captures into one picture and export a PNG Share • Send a capture to Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive and copy the link Also • A Safari extension captures the page you're looking at — signed in, scrolled, filled in • Save your work as a document and pick it up later • Available in 11 languages HotShot needs Screen Recording access to capture your screen. Everything happens on your Mac.

Freeze, your way • Freeze always keeps the moment: with Freeze on, the shortcut freezes the screen every time, staging or not, so a web page's tooltip or hover menu is still there to shoot. A frozen shot hides desktop icons if that's on, but skips the rest of staging; live captures are fully staged. • A shortcut for one frozen shot: with Freeze off, ⌘⌃⇧7 freezes the screen for a single capture while the main shortcut stays live. Change it in Settings ▸ Capturing. • Settings, rearranged: Appearance is now Capturing, with the menu bar icon, the shortcuts and Freeze together. The accent color moved to General. • A Small cursor size for recordings, closer to the real pointer. • Back where you started: screen and selection captures and screen recordings return to the app you started them from, so its windows are shot active rather than dimmed. • Hover the zoom track to scrub through a recording, the same way the clip bar does. • Fixes: Settings no longer runs off the bottom of a smaller screen; moving a Capture Selection region no longer makes it grow as you drag it; Hide desktop icons works properly on macOS 27 again.
