Say In Bulbs: LED Message Sign
LED Scroller & Message Sign
Free · In‑App Purchases
New: an Apple Watch app, and Say In Bulbs for Mac and Apple TV with the same Pro purchase. Type or draw a message and your phone becomes a scrolling LED sign.
Hold up your phone and be seen.
Type a few words and the screen becomes a scrolling dot-matrix LED sign, bright enough to read across an arrivals hall, a dance floor or a warehouse aisle. No sign-up, no account, no menus to learn. Open it, type, hold it up.
Or draw the sign yourself. Paint the panel bulb by bulb with a finger and hold up an arrow, a heart, a symbol or a shape no font has. Drawing is free.
READY-MADE DRAWINGS
Need a sign right now? Pick a ready-made drawing and it is on the panel in one tap - a jack-o'-lantern pumpkin and a skull for Halloween to start. Change a few bulbs to make it yours. Free.
A REAL LED PANEL
A fixed grid of round bulbs, lit ones glowing, unlit ones still faintly there, so it reads as a physical sign rather than as text on a screen.
- Full-screen sign with nothing in the way, in either orientation
- Turns smoothly with the phone, even when rotation lock is on
- Screen brightness turned up and held there, then handed back when you leave
- Stays awake for as long as you hold it up
- Works offline, in a building with no signal
MADE FOR
- Airport and station pickups, when a name has to be spotted from a distance
- Concerts and festivals, when shouting will not carry
- Race finish lines, to find your runner and be found
- Weddings, birthdays and Halloween parties
- Warehouses, shop counters and car parks, where there is no sign and you need one
ON YOUR WRIST
The Apple Watch app comes with it and works with or without your iPhone nearby. Pick a quick pick, a recent message or a saved sign, or dictate, scribble or type a new one, and it fills the watch face. Turn the Digital Crown to change the speed. The watch keeps its own signs.
FREE, AND UNLIMITED
The sign is free and it stays free. Unlimited signs, each running as long as you like, never interrupted, never nagged, never cut off. Amber on black, dot matrix, scrolling at whatever speed you choose. Drawing and the ready-made drawings are free, and so is saving one sign to come back to.
SIB PRO
One purchase, once. Not a subscription. Pro is control over how the sign looks:
- Six LED colours instead of one
- Four sign backgrounds: black, navy, maroon and white
- Solid glow, as an alternative to the dot-matrix panel
- Adjustable text size, from a whole-screen shout to a longer message
- Static and bouncing signs, alongside scrolling
- Flash, pulse and colour-cycle effects
- Unlimited saved signs, drawn or typed
Buy it once and it is yours, restorable on a new phone or after a reinstall. The same purchase unlocks Pro on your iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch, on the same Apple Account.
EASY TO READ, SAFE TO LOOK AT
Larger text sizes and VoiceOver are supported throughout. Nothing in the app flashes faster than 3 Hz, in either tier. Reduce Motion is honoured, and there is a separate Reduce Flashing control if you would rather not change a system setting. Flash safety is never something you have to pay for.
NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE
No account. No server. No analytics. What you type and what you draw stay on the device: never uploaded, never logged, never sent anywhere. The only network the app ever touches is the App Store, for your Pro purchase and restore. A sign can be a name, a phone number, a medical note or a slogan, and none of that is anyone else's business.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
- New: a Home Screen widget. See your sign on the Home Screen, and tap it to show it full screen.
- One Pro, every device: Pro bought once unlocks Say In Bulbs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch with the same Apple Account. Settings now says so on each one.
- Apple Watch: the close button on the full-screen sign is now a quiet grey, so it no longer competes with your message.
- Enjoying Say In Bulbs? You can now rate it from Settings.
