New: a rough moment button for the evening the ringing gets loud, saved mixes, wake with sound, and a sleep timer right on the Lock Screen. Notch plays sound, shaped around the ringing you hear. You tell it the pitch you hear, and it plays broadband sound with the band around that pitch taken out. The gap is where the name comes from. You listen at a gentle level for a while each day, often while doing something else. FIRST STEPS A range check shows which pitches your phone and headphones play back to you in the room you are in. It takes a couple of minutes and it is not a hearing test. Then you match: move through pitches and stop at the one nearest the sound you hear. Nothing is graded, and you can redo it any time. FOR THE HARD EVENINGS Rough moment: when the ringing suddenly gets loud, one tap plays a fuller mix and opens a slow breathing guide. It is on the player, on a widget, in Control Center and in Siri. Wake with sound: set a time, and ten minutes before it your night sound turns into a morning stream and slowly rises. The sleep timer sits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a Stop button, so you never have to look at a bright screen in the dark. THE SOUNDS 19 sounds, all generated on your phone rather than played from a recording, so nothing loops and nothing repeats. Soft, white and deep hiss. Rain, downpour, distant storm. Ocean, stream, waterfall. Wind, fan, air conditioning, aeroplane cabin, train. Bright hiss, steam and crickets for ringing that sits high. Muffled rustle and low rumble for ringing that sits low. Layer up to three and set each level. Slide the balance towards the ear that rings. Save your mix by name, or start from Sleep, Focus or Office. Personal balance shapes the sound to your range check, lifting the highs that fade for you. Say "Start Notch" to Siri, add the widget to your Home Screen or Lock Screen, or set a Shortcuts automation to start Notch when your Sleep Focus turns on. A bedtime reminder can carry a Start button right on the notification. NOTCH PLUS Notch Plus unlocks the frequency gap in the sound, a second gap for a second tone, all 19 sounds, layering, saved mixes, personal balance, wake with sound and the full sleep timer up to eight hours. It is a yearly subscription that renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple Account settings. IMPORTANT Notch is a sound player. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat tinnitus or any other condition, and it makes no promise that your ringing will change.
