Bragueta shows you what an archive would do to your disk before it writes a single byte — paths that escape, links pointing outside, decompression bombs. Bragueta opens archives, shows you what’s inside, and extracts exactly what you ask for — nothing more. LOOK BEFORE YOU EXTRACT Opening an archive to browse it is instant, whatever its size: Bragueta reads the index without decompressing anything. Pick one file out of ten thousand and only that file comes out. IT TELLS YOU WHAT AN ARCHIVE WOULD DO Before writing a single byte, Bragueta checks the archive for entries that would escape the folder you chose, symbolic links pointing somewhere else on your disk, decompression bombs, names disguised with invisible characters, and files that would collide with each other on macOS. Anything dangerous is listed, explained, and left alone unless you decide otherwise. This is not a marketing line. Path-traversal flaws have been found in widely used archivers; Bragueta is built so no archive can write outside the destination you picked, whatever it asks for. FORMATS Create and open: 7z, ZIP, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, XZ, Zstandard, and the usual combinations. Open: RAR (including encrypted and multi-volume), ISO, CAB, LHA, CPIO, AR, XAR, Z, and installer packages like PKG and DEB — which open to show what they would install, not their inner plumbing. Also EPUB, CBZ, JAR, IPA, APK and XIP, each named for what it really is. Bragueta opens RAR archives but cannot create them: the RAR format is proprietary and its licence forbids it. We would rather say so plainly than pretend otherwise. SELF-EXTRACTING .EXE FILES OPEN TOO Somebody sends you a Windows installer. Your Mac cannot run it, so the file is dead weight — but the archive inside is intact. Bragueta finds it and opens it. WHATEVER IT IS CALLED The extension is a convention, not a fact. Bragueta reads the bytes: it will tell you a file is a 7z archive even when it is named holiday.jpg. CONVERT, COMPARE, INSPECT Turn a RAR into a 7z with one button. Free space is checked before starting, the scratch space is always cleaned up, and if the original is encrypted and the destination cannot hold a password you are told before anything is written. Compare two archives without extracting either — it works from the stored checksums. See what an archive is made of, by file type. If it is ninety percent JPEG, compressing it harder gains nothing — and Bragueta says so before you wait twenty minutes to find out. CHECKSUMS AND HASHES Seventeen algorithms — CRC-32, CRC-64, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA3, BLAKE2 and more — for a loose file, for an archive, or for every file inside one. Paste the value somebody gave you and the matching row turns green; you do not have to know which algorithm it came from. Every value says what it actually guarantees. A CRC catches a file damaged in transit and proves nothing against someone who changed it on purpose, and that warning is printed in the exported report too, not just on screen. Export to plain text, to Markdown, or to the format shasum -c verifies on any Mac or Linux machine. REAL ENCRYPTION AES-256 for 7z archives, with the option to encrypt the file names as well — so that without the password, not even the list of contents can be read. MADE FOR macOS Quick Look preview: press the space bar on an archive and see what’s inside. A Finder menu for compressing and extracting without opening the app. Shortcuts actions to put archives into your automations. Names in Japanese, Cyrillic, Arabic or emoji survive intact, in both directions. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR MAC Bragueta has no network access at all. Not analytics, not crash reports, not licence checks. There is nothing to send because there is nowhere to send it. FREE, FOREVER, WITHOUT PAYING Opening, browsing, previewing, extracting and the safety inspection always work — no account, no time limit. The purchase unlocks creating and encrypting, converting formats, searching inside contents, comparing archives, the content breakdown, exporting reports, the Finder menu and Shortcuts. Nobody is ever left unable to open their own files.

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

This update fixes two crashes and a few rough edges. • In languages other than English, Bragueta could quit when an extraction finished with some items left out — for example, when the safety inspection kept a dangerous entry from being written. Fixed. • In Japanese and Korean, showing the safety inspection summary could make it quit. Fixed. • Percentages now display correctly in every language. • In the built-in text editor, the space bar types a space instead of opening Quick Look, and ⌘⌫ deletes text instead of deleting the file from the archive. • The menu bar icon appears only while something is running. • Esc closes the welcome and purchase windows, and Return no longer starts the free trial by accident.
