- More accurate deduction estimate: the income phase-out now follows IRS Schedule 1-A exactly. Each full $1,000 of MAGI over the threshold takes $100 off, and a partial $1,000 no longer counts. If your MAGI is just over $150,000 ($300,000 joint), your estimate may go up by as much as $100.
