Hex editor, disk inspector, and x86/ARM64 disassembler for disks, images, and Windows and Mac programs. See every byte — nothing hidden, nothing summarized. HexaScope is a hex editor, disk inspector, and disassembler in one — for people who want to see (and, when something's broken, fix) exactly what's inside a file, a disk image, or a program. It's built around the idea that every parsed byte deserves to be shown, not summarized: full MBR/GPT partition tables, full FAT/exFAT/NTFS/APFS/ISO 9660 structures, and full PE, MZ, and Mach-O headers, all field by field. HEX EDITOR • Direct byte-level editing, with a lock toggle against accidental changes • Byte / Word / DWord / QWord grouping, switchable endianness, text pane in ASCII, UTF-8, or UTF-16LE • Fast find (⌘F) across huge files — for hex values and text, auto-detected • Smart copy & paste: raw bytes, typed hex-byte strings, or plain text • Data Inspector: decodes the bytes under your cursor live as every integer and float width plus Unix, NTFS, and APFS timestamps • Write your own C-style struct definitions and overlay them on any file; pin several at once • Bitmap viewer: raw data as an image (1- to 64-bit, several palettes), extract sub-images DISK & FILESYSTEM STRUCTURE • Full decoding of MBR and GPT partition tables plus FAT12/16/32, exFAT, NTFS (incl. MFT records), APFS, and ISO 9660 • Browse files and folders directly inside the volumes • Finder-style icon view for ISO images: double-click opens files, drag out into Finder, Get Info • Create new ISO 9660 files right in the app • Reinterpret any position as a different structure — invaluable when tracking down corruption REPAIR TOOL • Edit individual fields of partition tables, boot sectors, and superblocks — stage, review, then apply, with an explicit unlock step EXECUTABLE INSPECTOR • Windows: MZ/PE, 32 and 64 bit, x86, x64, and ARM64 — DOS and PE headers, sections, imports, exports, data directories • macOS: Mach-O including universal binaries (every slice), chained fixups, and symbols; open .app bundles directly • Everything cross-linked, every field labeled in plain words DISASSEMBLER • x86 (16, 32, 64 bit) and ARM64 (the complete A64 instruction set incl. SIMD, SVE, and SME) • Code-flow analysis from the entrypoint: automatic labels, xrefs, call graph, thunks resolved • Strings shown as a comment where they are loaded; section banners; slice choice for universal binaries • Symbols, source lines, and signatures from PDB files; your own names for functions and labels • Go to (⌘L) and search for symbols and strings, live as you type • Register panel with value tracking and instruction patching with a built-in assembler (x86) • 16-bit disassembler for classic MBR boot code AND • Multi-window, recent documents, remembers your layout and where you left off ABOUT THE APP STORE EDITION For technical reasons, the App Sandbox that all Mac App Store apps run in cannot reach real physical disks directly — this isn't a choice HexaScope makes, macOS itself blocks it. This App Store edition therefore can't open a physical drive or write one out to an image file. Every other feature works exactly the same, including full structural editing of any disk-image or ISO file you open yourself. A direct-download edition without this restriction — for working with real drives — is available separately from the developer.
