Choose meat at the supermarket or order at a yakiniku restaurant. Look up flavor, texture, fat, and grilling tips, then save what you enjoyed.
What does this cut taste like? Is it tender or fatty? How should I grill it?
Yakiniku Cut Notebook helps you choose meat at the supermarket, understand Japanese BBQ menus, and remember the cuts you enjoyed.
Explore 184 entries covering beef, pork, chicken, offal, menu terms, and cut names.
At the supermarket
Search the cut name on a package and check its typical tenderness, fat, and flavor. Filter by traits such as less fat, tender, chewy, or rare. See whether a cut suits yakiniku or steak and get practical cooking tips.
At a yakiniku restaurant
Look up unfamiliar menu names and aliases before ordering. Japanese cut names appear alongside translated names. Rare cuts are marked, and menu terms whose meaning varies by restaurant are distinguished from anatomical parts.
Remember your favorites
Save cuts to try and log the date, restaurant, notes, and photos for each cut. Use your own notes to guide your next purchase or order.
Explore and learn
Browse cuts by animal and body region, or practice with 80 three-choice quiz questions. Cut images are illustrative representations.
Available in Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Cut search, favorites, meal records, and the quick quiz are free. You can store up to 3 record photos in total for free.
A one-time Full Access purchase removes ads and unlocks unlimited record photos, five-star ratings, tasting progress, category quizzes, quiz history, and mistake review.
No account or login is required. Favorites, meal records, quiz history, and selected photos are stored on your device. Open the information button at the top right of a main screen for food-safety notes, privacy policy, support, and version information.
