Capture first. Shape later. The MIDI idea engine rated 4.8 stars by 170 desktop users, now on iPad, standalone or AUv3. One phrase, endless patterns.
Stellarizer turns your musical ideas into new directions. Capture a phrase, draw a source, or start with a preset, then shape variations and explore an entire field of related patterns.
Built for landscape iPad use, Stellarizer brings its glowing pattern views and source-to-variation workflow to a touch interface. Play the on-screen keyboard, edit notes directly, and keep your original idea while discovering what it can become.
CAPTURE AND CREATE
Record MIDI from the on-screen keyboard or a connected MIDI source. Create and edit your own phrases, import MIDI, and work with monophonic lines or polyphonic material. Set capture length, sequence length, and quantization for your workflow.
SHAPE YOUR IDEAS
Explore pitch, rhythm, density, velocity, and duration. Use musical limits and locked notes to guide the result, then keep the variations you love.
EXPLORE THE PATTERN PLAYGROUND
Generate eight related patterns from one source. Audition discoveries, pin favorites, reroll individual patterns, and send a result back to Shape for further exploration.
SAVE AND CONTINUE
Browse factory presets, save your own, revisit recordings, and export MIDI through the iPad file workflow. A guided walkthrough introduces the controls directly inside the interface and can be repeated from Settings.
STANDALONE AND AUv3
Use standalone MIDI routing or load Stellarizer as an AUv3 MIDI processor in a compatible host. In AUv3, the host controls transport and tempo.
Stellarizer generates MIDI, not audio. To hear its output, connect it to a software or hardware instrument. AUv3 use requires a host that supports MIDI-processor extensions and MIDI routing. An external MIDI keyboard is optional.
Works great standalone and for the most part as an auv3 but as soon as you click import midi the UI freezes up. Import midi works fine standalone.
Developer Response
Thanks for the feedback! Version 1.0.1 fixes the AUv3 freeze when importing MIDI, presets, or banks. Please try the latest update. If anything persists, you can reach me at https://www.s1gnsofl1fe.com/contact.
Not showing up as Auv3 in Loopy or AUM and no audio from standalone app
Sadie Rose Whalen
I really love this app on Mac, but presently on iOS when I opened it up and I tried to create something using the keyboard and playback and so forth you can’t hear any audio at all. It plays, but you don’t hear anything. So the next thing I tried, of course was opening loopy pro aum and your other plug-ins that I own on iOS show up in there as auv3 but Stellarizer does not. I’m only writing this review because I don’t know how else to let you know what’s going on with the app and I want you to know that I really love your apps and and I was part of your community at one point till I couldn’t afford it anymore unfortunately. For anyone looking to buy this app, I have no doubt that Chris ? will look into what’s going on and fix the issues. Chris’s apps are second to none but they are on the newer side so sometimes you need to have a little flexibility. I just wanted anyone out there who might be purchasing this or any other app. all the other apps I have purchased from him work flawlessly.
Developer Response
Thank you so much for the kind words and for being part of the community. Stellarizer is a MIDI generator, so it makes no sound on its own. In AUM or Loopy Pro, load it in a MIDI slot (not the instrument or effect slot) and route it into any synth, and you'll hear it. Version 1.0.1 also fixed the MIDI import freeze. If anything still isn't working, email me and I'll sort it out personally. Cheers, Chris
Fixes an issue that could freeze the AUv3 interface when importing MIDI, presets, or banks. Adds access to Stellarizer documents through the Files app.
