Go explore Rhode Island

$4.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

133 hand-picked Rhode Island places, hidden until you get close. Walk or drive within range and each one lights up. No account, no signup — just go exploring. Rhode Island is the smallest state in the country and one of the most densely packed with things worth seeing. POI Rhode Island turns all of it into a map worth completing. Open the app and 133 hand-picked places sit on the map as grey, unfilled markers. You can tap any one to see what it is and get directions — but you can't earn it from your couch. Get physically close, and it snaps into full colour. That's the whole idea. DISCOVERY THAT HAPPENS ON ITS OWN You don't have to check in, scan anything, or even open the app. Grant location access and places reveal themselves as you travel — on a Sunday drive down Ocean Road, on a detour through Wickford, on the ferry to Block Island. Every place has its own range, sized to what it actually is: a 464-acre state park announces itself from a quarter-mile out, while a Newport row house waits until you're on the sidewalk. GPS can't always confirm you're somewhere — thick tree cover, parking garages, boat decks. Mark any place found by hand when you know better. 133 PLACES, NOT 133 PINS OFF A DIRECTORY Every entry was chosen and written up individually, with a note on why it earns the trip and what to know before you go — ticket quirks, parking, seasons, which part is actually the good part. • 64 historic sites — mansions, lighthouses, colonial churches, mills • 35 nature spots — barrier beaches, wildlife refuges, coastal state parks • 19 museums • 8 local businesses worth the stop • 7 attractions • Across 32 towns, from Woonsocket to Watch Hill to Block Island 89 are hidden gems. 44 are the headline stops. Both count. TRACK THE WHOLE STATE An exploration log shows what you've found and what's left, with completion tracked per category — so you can see you've cleared the lighthouses but barely touched the museums. Sort what remains by distance to plan the next run. BUILT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY • Standard map or satellite, with a labels toggle • See the driving route to any place before you commit to it • Hand off to Maps for turn-by-turn when you're ready to go • No account. No signup. No ads. Nothing to subscribe to. Made for Rhode Islanders who think they've seen it all, and for anyone with a free Saturday and a full tank. Note: continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life.
