A native Mac editor for diagrams written as text. Mermaid, D2, Graphviz and Nomnoml render offline, and draw.io and Excalidraw files live in the same library.
Diagram Studio is a Mac editor for diagrams written as text. Write Mermaid, D2, Graphviz, Nomnoml or PlantUML on the left, and the rendered diagram updates on the right. Diagrams are saved as plain files in a folder you choose, and earlier versions are kept so you can restore them.
Formats
• Mermaid, D2, Graphviz and Nomnoml render with engines built into the app and work offline
• PlantUML renders through a server you choose (plantuml.com by default)
• Edit draw.io and Excalidraw files
• Open Visio (.vsdx), SVG and PNG files
• Export any diagram as SVG or PNG

• One library for every format, with search and filters by type
• Preview a diagram without opening it
• Duplicate or remix a diagram; remixes keep a link to the original
• Deleted diagrams go to a recoverable Trash
• Light and dark appearance
Version History
• A checkpoint is saved before a diagram changes
• Browse earlier versions and restore any of them
Privacy
No account. No ads. No cross-app tracking. Diagram Studio sends a random install identifier and bounded, content-free product interaction events for product analytics. It never sends diagram source, file names, file paths or rendered output. PlantUML source is sent to the PlantUML server you choose for rendering, and the draw.io editor loads from diagrams.net.
Optional: AI Agent Tools
A separate, free command-line and MCP tool lets AI coding agents create and edit diagrams in the same folder, and Diagram Studio shows the changes as they happen. It is not part of this app.
