Clearspace brings a categorized storage catalog, cleanup review, app-related file inspection and a menu-bar dashboard into one Mac app.
SCAN AND UNDERSTAND
Grant access to your home folder once, then use Scan Mac to inspect supported storage locations. Browse categories, search names and paths, and distinguish rebuildable caches from data that needs review or is inspect-only. Music libraries are excluded. Clearspace does not request administrator privileges or Full Disk Access. Inaccessible and partial results remain visible through coverage notes.
REVIEW BEFORE CLEANUP
Nothing is selected automatically. Review exact paths before moving supported, complete entries to Trash. Clearspace rechecks file identity and metadata and refuses protected or changed entries. Close related apps and command-line tools, then confirm they are stopped: the sandbox cannot verify every running process.
APP FILES, TOGETHER
Search supported installed applications and inspect exact bundle-ID-related files. Select accessible items to move to Trash; items requiring additional permissions remain protected. Nested installations and protected Apple apps are visible in the list. Related files can contain settings or personal data; shared containers, Keychain data and Apple apps are excluded. This is not a complete leftover finder or a replacement for vendor uninstallers that remove system extensions.
HISTORY AND RECOVERY
Supported cache cleanup creates local receipts. Restore recorded cache items from History while they remain accessible in Trash and the original path is free. App-removal items are recovered through Finder. Permanent removal of a recorded Trash item requires separate confirmation.
A MENU-BAR VIEW
Keep available disk space visible and open the compact storage dashboard for scan results, filters and cleanup review. Available space can include space macOS can reclaim; it differs from currently free space.
YOUR MAC, YOUR ACCESS
No account, advertising or analytics. Scans and cleanup receipts stay on your Mac. Manual scanning is the default; scan on launch is optional. Forget saved access from the app.
IMPORTANT LIMITS
Scan Mac covers a supported catalog, not every file on disk or Apple's System Data total. Sizes are bounded estimates and do not guarantee reclaimed space. macOS permissions still apply. Linked, cloud-backed, protected and incomplete catalog results are not automatically cleanable. Simulator storage can be inspected, but simulator device deletion is performed in Xcode.
Moving files to Trash does not immediately free disk space. Review and recover them before permanent deletion. Requires macOS 14 or later.
