Some rooms feel wrong, and there is often a physical reason. Put your phone down, walk out, and Eerie will tell you whether anything actually moved or made a sound.
Some rooms feel wrong. Cold, watched, uneasy.
There is often a physical reason for it. Sound too low to hear can cause exactly that sensation — unease, a prickling on the skin, a sense that someone is there. So can a strong magnetic field, or a vibration you feel without noticing that you feel it.
I believe in ghosts. I've been on a lot of hunts and I'll keep going on them. But every time, the first thing I want to know is whether something ordinary is making the noise — a fan, a boiler, wiring in the wall, traffic outside, the building settling. Ruling that out isn't the dull part of the hobby. It's the part that makes anything left over worth taking seriously.
I couldn't find an app that did that honestly. Most of them make things up. So I built this one.
Tim, Frapply Studios
Eerie measures those things, and tells you plainly what it found.
HOW IT WORKS
Put your phone on a hard surface, start a session, and leave the room. Eerie spends about 45 seconds learning what that room is normally like — every room has its own hum, its own field, its own background — and then watches for anything that departs from it
• Infrasound at 17–20 Hz, the range linked with unease
• Magnetic field, calibrated, in microtesla
• Vibration, through whatever the phone rests on
• Audible sound, logged as levels and never recorded
WHAT IT WILL NOT DO
Nothing in Eerie is randomised. No word banks, no entity readings, no invented results. It reports what the sensors read and nothing more, and will never tell you a room is haunted.
Every event is listed with the ordinary causes that most often explain it — a fridge compressor, a boiler, wiring, traffic, a notification on your own phone. When several channels move at once it says so, because measurements agreeing is stronger than any one alone.
And when nothing happens, it says so. "Nothing registered" is the result most sessions should produce, and it is the answer most other apps will not give you.
THE SESSION REPORT
Every session is saved on your device: a timeline of all four channels, a spectrum of the low frequencies, the events with their likely causes, and a plain-English summary. Share it as an image if you want to.
THE FIELD METER
A handheld mode: carry the phone and watch the magnetic field live, in microtesla, with the Earth's field marked on the dial so a reading means something.
It is not the same instrument as the meters sold for ghost hunting. Those respond to the alternating field around mains wiring — which is also why a phone nearby sets them off. This one cannot see mains electricity, and says so. But no phone can set it off, and it gives a number rather than a coloured light.
It will tell you whether you were moving. Walking a sensor towards metal raises the reading on any meter; this is the only one that says so. Hold still and it watches from where it settled: a change with the phone stationary is worth more, because the usual explanation is ruled out.
THE TABLE WATCH
Lay the phone on the table during a sitting and it measures tilt to a hundredth of a degree, and vibration. It says before you begin that the usual explanation is the ideomotor effect, and it will never tell you what moved the table — only what the table did.
HONEST ABOUT ITS LIMITS
iPhone microphones are not calibrated below about 20 Hz, so Eerie never quotes an absolute sound level — only how far a reading moved from the room's own baseline. The questions section in the app explains this.
PRIVACY
No accounts, no tracking, no analytics. No data collected, ever. Audio becomes numbers as it arrives and is discarded — never recorded, stored, or transmitted. Nothing you measure leaves your phone.
ONE PAYMENT
Eerie is a single purchase, not a subscription. Buy it once and it stays bought on every device signed in to your Apple Account. No trial, no renewal, nothing to cancel.

Two new instruments, and a new home screen to reach them from.
THE FIELD METER
A handheld mode. Carry the phone and watch the magnetic field live in
microtesla, on a dial with the Earth's field marked so a reading means
something rather than being a number on its own.
It is not the same instrument as the meters sold for ghost hunting, and it
says so. Those respond to the alternating field around mains wiring, which
a phone cannot measure — but it is also why a mobile in someone's pocket
sets them off, and nothing can set this one off.
It also tells you whether you were moving, which no other handheld meter
does. Walking a sensor towards metal raises the reading on any meter. Hold
still and this one watches from where it settled, because a change
measured with the phone stationary is worth more than one measured
mid-sweep.
THE TABLE WATCH
Lay the phone on the table during a sitting and it measures tilt to a
hundredth of a degree, with vibration alongside. The screen dims so it
does not light the room, and brightens when the table moves.
Before you begin it says what the usual explanation is — the ideomotor
effect, small muscular movements made without being aware of making them.
Everyone at the table can be honest and the table can still move. Eerie
measures what the table did. It will never tell you what moved it.
ALSO
Eerie now opens on a chooser, so the room scan, the field meter and the
table watch are each one tap away.
Nothing new is saved anywhere. Both new modes keep their readings only
while they are on screen.
