This update makes the first steps gentler for your child and clearer for you. - A shorter placement test: at most six questions, with an intro page and a short explanation for grown-ups. - The result screen offers Starter or Explorer, and a grown-up can change the level later. Your child sees the level's name; grown-up screens add its range, such as "Explorer, A1 to A2". - Before the plans, grown-ups see a comparison screen behind the parental gate. It sets reading without a plan beside full access and shows the free trial when you are eligible. - After a purchase, a page confirms that full access is on and opens the chapter your child asked for. - The next chapter that needs a grown-up carries a calm "Opens with a grown-up" mark on the finished screen and in the chapter list. - A new "For grown-ups" page in the Me tab, behind the parental gate, brings together your plan, Restore purchases, your child's level and the account settings. - The parental gate pauses for one minute after three wrong answers in a row. - Clearer wording and small fixes across the app. Without a plan, your child can read the first chapter of two stories at each level. The map moves in every direction and zooms with a pinch. - Two reading levels, Starter and Explorer, with illustrated comic stories. - Words your child looks up go to the Words tab. A row of dots and a chapter list help your child move through a story. - A parental gate protects signing in, purchases and links out of the app. - WhaleTales now works on iPad. - Your child can read the first chapter of a story right away, before a grown-up signs in. - Signing in comes when your child wants the next chapter. It sits behind the parental gate and keeps your child's progress. - Parents can now rate WhaleTales from inside the app. Plans have changed. The daily free chapter has ended; instead, the first chapter of each opened story is free. To read on, choose an annual or monthly subscription, each with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
