AeroDex is a Pokédex-style logbook for the aircraft you spot. Photograph a plane and AeroDex reads the registration off the hull, names the airline and type, gives it a rarity and a rough value, and files the card in your logbook.
HOW IT WORKS
• Point your camera at a plane, or pick a photo from your library.
• AeroDex reads the tail number on your device, then looks it up in an airframe database of roughly 630,000 aircraft for the operator, exact type, serial number, engines and build year.
• If the database comes up short, you can allow an AI vision service to read the livery and titles. It is optional, and the app asks before your first photo is sent.
• The photo's date and location fill in when and where you spotted it, and the nearest airport is matched automatically.
• Every card shows a confidence dot per field, and you can edit anything by hand.
YOUR LOGBOOK
• Every spot in order, with tail number, airline, rarity and the day you caught it.
• Rarity tiers from Common to Legendary, worth points. Quad-jets, military and government aircraft rank higher, so an An-124 in the wild is a legendary.
• Share any card as an image to Messages or anywhere else.
• Works offline: spots queue on your device and identify when you're back on signal.
COLLECT THEM ALL
• Collection grids for aircraft types and airlines. Locked slots light up when you catch one.
• A world map of everywhere you've spotted, with countries and places counted.
• Quirks: your points, spotter rank, rarity mix and odd stats about your own catches.
RACE YOUR CREW
• Add friends by call sign and climb a shared leaderboard.
• Challenge a friend head to head over points, spots or a specific aircraft type.
• See what your friends have caught, and choose whether your recent catches are visible to them.
• Report or block anyone from their profile.
YOUR DATA
• Your original photos stay on your device. Only a small thumbnail and the card details sync to your account.
• Sign in with Apple or email. You can delete your account and all its data from inside the app.
AeroDex is for plane spotters, avgeeks, and anyone who has ever looked up at a contrail and wondered what it was. Requires iOS 18 or later. Works on iPhone and iPad.
