METADATA NOW is a native Mac workspace for preparing image copies before sharing them. Drop a batch, inspect each result, and save a readable JSON record of the checks. Everything runs locally on your Mac, with no account, upload service, advertising, or in-app purchase.
CLEAN COPIES, KEEP YOUR ORIGINALS
Choose an output folder, then drop JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP or TIFF images onto the window. The app writes separate _cleaned copies. Repeating a job creates new filenames instead of overwriting earlier results.
INSPECT BEFORE AND AFTER
Open Inspect beside a result to compare detected metadata categories, image dimensions and page counts. The receipt includes SHA-256 fingerprints of the source and output and checks whether the original remained unchanged during processing. Save one receipt or the whole batch as JSON, or share the inspection as text.
UNDERSTAND THE ENCODING
Format-specific cleaners preserve compressed image data for JPEG, PNG, WebP and supported HEIC layouts. TIFF is written through ImageIO with its pages retained, and the inspector clearly labels it as re-encoded. Unsupported HEIC layouts return an error instead of silently converting the picture.

Try sample images creates a labelled synthetic JPEG and a two-page TIFF on your Mac. They contain demonstration metadata, including synthetic coordinates, so you can clean, inspect and export a receipt without choosing a personal photo.
BUILT FOR MAC
A native file picker, drag and drop, remembered folder access, batch results, Finder reveal, JSON export and a built-in cleaning guide keep the workflow in one place. Apple silicon and Intel Macs are supported, starting with macOS 13.
KNOW THE LIMITS
The cleaners remove supported EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, C2PA/JUMBF and maker-note payloads. Inspection reports the metadata categories exposed by ImageIO; it is not a forensic guarantee that every identifying trace is gone. Visible faces, text and places in the picture, filenames and filesystem attributes can still identify someone. Review cleaned copies before sharing. TIFF re-encoding is not certified pixel-for-pixel identical.
