Zappu makes retro game sound effects in seconds. Coins, lasers, explosions, jumps, confirm and cancel sounds, notification chimes: the sounds your game or app needs, one click away. ■ Generate with one click 18 presets (Pickup/Coin, Laser/Shoot, Explosion, Powerup, Hit/Hurt, Jump, Click, Blip/Select, Synth, Tone, Confirm, Cancel, Warp, Zap, Footstep, Splash, Chime, Random). Every click is a little different, and Mutate makes variations of a sound you like. ■ Shape every detail Envelope, frequency slides, vibrato, arpeggio, duty cycle, retrigger, flanger, low-pass and high-pass filters, plus triangle and pink-noise waveforms, bit crush, harmonics, tremolo, multi-step arpeggios, envelope curves and compression. Every slider explains itself. ■ Ask AI (macOS 27 or later) Type "a chiptune explosion for when an enemy dies" and Apple Intelligence picks the preset and dials it in. You can edit the open sound in plain words too. Processing happens on device or on Private Cloud Compute. ■ History and favorites Everything you make is kept in History. Name it, star it, search it by name. Undo and Redo work per sound. ■ Export WAV (44.1k / 22k / 11k / 8k, 8 or 16-bit) and JSON. JSON files can be imported and edited again. ■ Your coding agent, on sound duty The bundled zappu command generates and exports sounds from the terminal, and doubles as an MCP server. Register it with Claude Code or Codex and ask for "a confirm sound": it lands straight in your library. Requires macOS 26 or later. AI features require macOS 27 or later with Apple Intelligence. Zappu's synthesizer is based on jsfxr / sfxr.
