AmpSonic: Self-Hosted Music

Navidrome, Subsonic & Ampache

Free · In‑App Purchases

AmpSonic brings your personal Ampache, Subsonic, or Navidrome music library to iPhone and CarPlay. Navidrome connects through its Subsonic-compatible API. Browse artists, albums, songs, and playlists, search your whole library from a local index, and keep the player close at hand while you explore. Playback and offline features: - Stream from multiple servers and switch between them. - Download albums and playlists for offline playback. - Keep a cache of played tracks for unreliable connections. - Play in the background with lock-screen and Control Center controls. - Browse and play your library in CarPlay, with configurable tabs and buttons. - Play through AirPlay speakers. - Listen to radio stations saved on your music server. - Shuffle music and repeat a song or the queue. - Find recent albums and quick playback actions on the Home screen. - Choose and reorder the bottom menu, including pinned albums and playlists. - View local listening statistics. - Report completed plays to a supported server with an opt-in setting for each account. - Adjust local playback with ReplayGain and a 10-band equalizer. - Pick from eleven app icons with light, dark, and tinted variants. AmpSonic connects to the servers you configure. Your credentials stay in Apple Keychain, and the app does not collect your library or any data. An Ampache, Subsonic, or Navidrome server is required. AmpSonic does not include music or access to a hosted music service.

Features - Next and Previous on headphones, in the car, and on the Lock Screen can skip time instead of changing songs, always or only in long songs, for mixes and audiobooks. Holding them can do the opposite. CarPlay can have its own choice. Set it in Settings > Next and Previous Buttons. Changed - Large libraries use less memory. A library of 50,000 songs uses about 70 MB less, and a long queue uses less after AmpSonic opens again. - Favoriting, rating, pull to refresh, and reconnecting are faster and use less battery on large libraries. - AmpSonic handles short network drops, such as in a tunnel or on the subway, more smoothly and with less battery use. - Search is ready at once after launch and after pull to refresh. - Play, Pause, and song changes use less battery. - Downloaded playlists open at once, also in CarPlay on a slow connection. - The Playlists row on Home shows playlist covers, like the other rows. - The Downloads tab shows covers, and finished downloads take one line. - Albums is a grid of covers. At the largest text sizes it stays a list. - Albums has a Shuffle Albums button that plays the albums shown in random order, also when filtered. - Now Playing takes its colors from the album cover. - The artist name on album pages is centered under the title. - Search opens on Browse Genres, with a cover tile for each genre. - The Genres list shows a cover for each genre. - The Statistics page shows the summary as cards, with covers and cleaner Top Songs, Albums, and Artists lists. - Top Songs on artist pages show at once instead of waiting for the biography. Fixes - Improved playback when you switch to or from AirPlay while a song loads or changes. - Fixed album and song covers not loading for Ampache accounts. - Fixed playlist names, artist names, and usernames with a "+", such as "Florence + the Machine". - Fixed favorites, ratings, and playlist changes made during a library refresh. - Fixed the playlist page closing when the server couldn't delete the playlist. - Improved how error messages show. - Fixed a "Session activation failed" alert when you press Play while another app is playing. - Fixed "No Results" flashing in Search while you type. - Fixed album and playlist pages jumping when the song count and length appear. - Fixed playlists jumping to the top when you switch between Songs and Albums. A filter now carries over to Albums. - Preparing waveforms in advance no longer analyzes the song that's playing a second time after it finishes downloading, which used extra battery.
