FrostLid: Screen Blur Effects
Frosted desktop animations
Only for Mac

Lower the lid, and your desktop settles behind soft frosted light. Four styles, tuned exactly the way you like them.
Lower the lid and your desktop settles behind a soft, frosted layer. Open it again and everything returns, sharp and untouched.
FrostLid turns an everyday gesture into a small piece of visual craft. The effect follows the real hinge angle, so it builds as you close and clears as you open — never an on/off flash.
FOUR STYLES
Four finishes, from a fine matte veil to a deeper, dusky haze. Pick one, then make it yours with intensity, texture and perspective controls. Every change applies live.
MADE TO FEEL RIGHT
• Set the exact angle where the effect starts.
• Preview the whole closing motion without touching the lid.
• Runs quietly from the menu bar.
• Close the settings window — the effect keeps running.
• Optional launch at login.
• Ten languages, following your system setting.
IT STAYS ON YOUR COMPUTER
Screen images are rendered on-device and never leave it. No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Screen Recording permission is used only to draw the effect over your own desktop; nothing is saved or sent.
COMPATIBILITY
Requires macOS 14 or later and a MacBook with a compatible lid-angle sensor; automatic activation depends on the model. Designed for the built-in display — external monitors are not covered. It does not keep your computer awake when the lid is fully closed. The optional Lock Screen appearance is limited by macOS and is unavailable before your first login.
A small detail, every single time you close.
