DuoTalk turns your iPhone into a face-to-face interpreter. Each half of the screen belongs to one person and their language. Hold your side to speak, let go, and the translation appears on the other person's side, read aloud if you like.

Works on a compatible iPhone
Face-to-face mode rotates the top half of the screen. Place a compatible iPhone between two people so each person can read their own side.
How it works
• Choose a language for each side.
• Hold to talk, release to translate.
• Read the original and the translation, or hear it spoken aloud.
• Each side keeps its own history of the conversation.

Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. The app itself is available in 53 languages.
Where translation happens
Translations are made on your iPhone by the translation engine built into iOS. Some languages need a one-time download before first use. Speech recognition uses Apple's speech service, which may process your voice on Apple's servers depending on the language and your iPhone. Available languages and voices depend on your iPhone and iOS version.
No account
No sign-up. DuoTalk keeps no audio recordings and does not save your conversations: only your language pair is remembered for next time.
Good to know
Machine translation can make mistakes. DuoTalk is not a certified interpreter: do not rely on it alone in an emergency or for medical, legal or other high-stakes communication.
