TinySerial is a native macOS serial terminal for firmware, hardware and embedded engineers. Plug in a board, pick the port, and read what it is actually saying — without wrestling with a terminal emulator first.
WORK IN PROJECTS
A project remembers the device and every port parameter. Open it tomorrow and the connection is already configured — no setup ritual before every debug session. One project can hold several connections, one per device: MCU, radio module, power board, each with its own settings and its own logged debug time.
A CLEAR LOG
Incoming data is rendered exactly as it arrives, in a monospaced font you choose, at a size you choose. Switch to HEX when the bytes matter, add timestamps when the timing matters, and leave autoscroll on to follow a live boot sequence.
FULL UART CONTROL
Baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits and flow control are all on one panel, not buried in dialogs. Toggle DTR and RTS while connected, send a Break, and watch the line state respond.
SEND WHAT YOU NEED
Type a command and send it with a keyboard shortcut. Choose the line ending — LF, CR, CRLF or none — send raw HEX, or set a message to repeat on an interval while you watch the response.
A NOTEBOOK BESIDE THE LOG
Debugging produces notes: a register value, a magic AT command, a pin mapping you will need again in ten minutes. Keep them in the side notepad, in the same project, instead of in a text file you will lose.
DESIGNED FOR MACOS
Built with SwiftUI as a real Mac app: native controls, fast launch, small footprint. Localised in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Kazakh and Uyghur. A session can be exported when you need to hand it to someone else. No account, no cloud, no telemetry — your serial data never leaves your Mac.
REQUIREMENTS
Works with any USB-to-serial adapter macOS recognises, including CP210x, CH34x, FTDI and native USB CDC devices such as ESP32-S3 and RP2040 boards.
