SketchTone: Music Maker
Draw, Doodle & Loop Melodies
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Turn colorful doodles into music. Explore 24 colors, eight sounds and editable melody loops. Draw, press Play and hear your shapes come to life.
Draw a line, tap Play, and hear your doodle become a melody. SketchTone is a playful music maker that turns the shapes you draw into sound. Explore musical drawing with a colorful canvas, simple controls and no music theory required.
DRAW YOUR MUSIC
Make dots, curves and colorful sketches, then listen as the playhead brings them to life. Higher marks create higher notes, while their position from left to right sets the timing. Erase part of a line, undo an edit or clear the canvas to try a new idea.
EXPLORE COLOR AND SOUND
Choose from 24 ink colors and eight synthesized sounds: Keys, Pluck, Bell, Bass, Flute, Marimba, Strings and Synth. Color your drawing independently of its sound, and layer different instruments into the same musical doodle.
SHAPE YOUR MELODY LOOPS
Start with the uncluttered Simple controls. Switch to Advanced to choose instruments, adjust the tempo, add echo and explore loops from 4 to 32 beats. Play, pause and resume while you experiment, with volume and mute always within reach.
FIND A LITTLE INSPIRATION
Tap Shuffle for an editable musical drawing, from cats and flowers to ocean scenes and flowing ribbons. Add your own marks or reshape what is already there. Choose the rounded Modern appearance or the retro Paint look without losing your drawing.
A CREATIVE BREAK, ONLINE OR OFF
SketchTone works offline after installation. Your current drawing and settings save locally on your device, ready for your next session. No account, microphone or in-app purchases are required. Occasional interstitial ads may appear after Clear or Shuffle while online; there are no banner ads. The interface is currently in English.
This is a musical sketchpad for exploring short instrumental ideas, not an audio recorder or a song-export studio. Start with a doodle and discover how it sounds.
