Pick a genre, name your book, and your screen becomes the cover. Hold it up on the train and watch people read it. That is the whole app.
There are eight cover styles and each one is built like the real thing, artwork included. The thriller gets a lit house under a moon. The literary novel gets one small drawing and a lot of quiet. The classic gets an engraved frame and a medallion. Titles are embossed, some are foil stamped, and about a third of the books come with an award sticker. The thriller has the heavy condensed type and the thin red rule. The literary novel is quiet and set in Didot. The classic has the orange bands. The romance is all script. They look right from across a room, which is the entire point.
Do not want to write your own? Browse the library. It is full of books that should not exist, like The Neighbor Who Waves Too Much, The Meeting That Could Have Been an Email, and Something Is Using the Guest Wi-Fi. Every cover also gets an author, a bestseller badge, and a review quote from a newspaper that is not real.
Swipe and you get the back cover, with pull quotes, a synopsis, an author bio, a publisher, a price and a barcode. People look at the back of a book. Now there is something there.
On a foldable like iPhone Duo, folded it is the cover. Unfold it and you get two printed pages, gutter shadow and page numbers included, so the joke keeps working when you open the book to read it.

Stand your Duo half open like a tent and it shows the back cover on one side and the front cover on the other, so the whole table can see what you're "reading".
Unfolded, the book's spine now sits right on the fold. Close it partway and the pages curve into the gutter like real paper. Close it and open it again to turn the page.
Also fixed: the cover now fills the outer screen edge to edge.
