PayDay: Investing Made Plain
Investing, in plain English
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
PayDay explains investing the way a friend would — in plain English, no jargon — and shows what real companies actually pay the people who own their shares, straight from the reports those companies file with the U.S. government.
It never tells you what to buy. It tells you what the words mean, what things cost today, and what companies have paid, so you can walk into a conversation with a licensed professional as an equal.
WHAT'S INSIDE
• A moving wall of 55 well-known companies and funds with today's price. Tap any name for the price, the last 12 months, what the company actually does, and what owning one share pays.
• "What would $X earn?" — pick a top company, slide from $100 to $50,000, and see what that amount would have been paid at today's price. An example of the math, not a pick.
• 129 investing terms across 9 topics: the basics, dividends, bonds, Treasuries and CDs, REITs, index funds and ETFs, options, accounts and taxes, and market talk.
• Every term opened up the same way: In plain English · From the street · Picture it like this · Why it matters · Where you'll see it · The catch · Say it out loud · With real numbers.
• Twelve companies in depth — Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Apple, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan Chase, Home Depot, PepsiCo, McDonald's, AbbVie, Exxon Mobil, Verizon, Realty Income — with what each has paid per share, year by year, from their own SEC filings. Checked every day.
• Who just raised or cut their payment, in plain words, with what it means for one share.
• A two-minute lesson every day — on the days and at the time you choose. Lessons work offline. No account. No ads. No tracking.
MY OPTIONS (optional add-on)
• A 50-lesson crash course on options in plain English — from what a call is to IV crush.
• A calculator for covered calls, secured puts, calls and puts at today's live price. Setting one up is free; the outcome — where you break even, the most you can make and lose, a rough chance of each, and the profit-or-loss chart — is part of the add-on.
• "What has to happen?" — tell it where you think a stock is going and by when, and see five ways to act on that view side by side, each with the price it needs, including what happens if you're early, late, or right on price while the swings calm down after earnings.
My Options is an auto-renewable subscription, monthly or yearly, with a 3-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase after the trial. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings. It is separate from Full Access and does not change it.
FREE TO START
Today's lesson, the stock wall, the estimator, the first two terms in every topic, the Coca-Cola and Microsoft pages, and the first options lessons are free. Full Access — every term, every company, your paydays, and alerts — is a single one-time purchase, not a subscription.
WHAT PAYDAY IS NOT
PayDay is education. It is not financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and it does not recommend buying, selling, or holding anything. Companies are examples, not picks, and they are never ranked. Prices come from public market feeds and can run behind; your broker shows the price you'd actually pay. Options can lose money fast. Past payments do not guarantee future ones. Use PayDay at your own risk and follow your broker's and your licensed adviser's guidance before you put real money anywhere.
