Give every record a place. GrooveFile organises your physical music collection on your Mac, from everyday favourites to copies kept in storage.
YOUR COLLECTION, YOUR COPIES
Browse covers on the Shelf or use a customisable Table. Search artists, albums, tracks and credits. Group artist-sorted collections by letter. Review preferred artist names while preserving original credits. Compare your own copies side by side: edition, tracks, condition, photos, location and price stay attached to the exact copy.
BRING YOUR COLLECTION
Preview Discogs or CSV imports before applying changes. Scan barcodes or search by artist, title and catalogue number. Continuous Queue keeps pending scans across restarts while ambiguous matches wait for your choice. Barcode matches suggest editions; check the details against your physical copy. Optional Discogs lookup uses your own Discogs personal access token. Online information and artwork depend on provider availability.
LOOK BEYOND THE COVER
Keep track lists, musician and production credits, genres and edition years when available. Add your own label, runout and condition photos. Recognise text from photos locally and save pressing evidence. Explore relationships between records already in your collection.
ORGANISE YOUR SHELVES
Give boxes and shelves a physical address, plan placement and print QR labels. Check box contents and review discrepancies. Named acquisition and sale batches keep their history when copies move. Filter by format, tags, location or box, and save useful combinations as Smart Collections.
LISTEN, LEND AND SELL
Build a Play Next queue, log listening and rediscover albums. Track loans, asking prices and completed sales. Prepare advertisements using reusable templates and selected copy photos. Export readable text or Markdown. Recorded values are estimates, not guaranteed sale prices.
YOUR COLLECTION ACROSS APPLE DEVICES
Keep your collection on your Mac and browse and edit it offline. Optional private iCloud sync connects your Macs and the native GrooveFile app for iPhone and iPad using the same Apple account. Sync copy details and photos, review conflicting edits and access recovery checkpoints. The iPhone and iPad app is sold separately.
KEEP CONTROL
Export chosen fields as a Markdown table or list, CSV or PDF. Create complete Archive Backups for library recovery. Keep an independent backup: sync also transfers deletions. Pending scan queues and provider credentials stay on the device.
Music metadata provided by MusicBrainz and Discogs. Cover art provided by the Cover Art Archive and other credited sources.
Requires macOS 14 or later. Camera features require an available camera and permission. Audio CD controls require a compatible drive and Apple Music automation permission. Apple Music links open an external search. Third-party services have their own terms and availability.

Build a collection of up to 50 records without a time limit. Unlock unlimited records with a one-time in-app purchase. Existing records remain available to edit, browse, export, back up and sync, even above the free limit. Previous paid Mac App Store customers keep full access. Restore purchases with the same Apple Account.
