For Turkish speakers at A1 and A2: hold a sentence to read it in Turkish, or turn on Turkish lines for the whole story. Beginner stories start with their key words, with meanings and sound. A1 stories are shorter and use simpler words, and the A1 quiz asks about what the story says. Tomorrow's story: after a quiz, and on Today once you have read the day's stories, see tomorrow's first story. The notification screen shows what your morning reminder looks like, and the reminder names the day's story at your level. A new look: the Newlings icon is now a ladder of six rungs, one for each level from A1 to C2, and the app opens with it. Reading settings: tap Aa in a story to choose the text size, line spacing, typeface and a paper, sepia or dark page. Your progress in Me: a calendar of the days you read, and this week's XP next to last week's. Your streak, quiz stars, new badges and a new level now each get their own celebration. At the end of a story, the quiz now comes first: five questions, about a minute. New learners see on Today where to start. Shared word cards show the part of speech and the pronunciation. If your connection drops as you finish a story, the read still counts and is saved the next time you open Newlings. Also: smaller fixes.

Turn on notifications in one tap and get the day's new stories every morning at 09:00 on your own clock. Choose another time on hour and minute wheels in Me > Notifications, or turn the daily reminder off there. If you have already opened Newlings that day after the new stories arrived, you get no reminder for them. The placement test now stops at the first level where you answer two questions wrong. On iPad, the sidebar that opens over the page shows its labels cleanly. Also: smaller fixes.

Listen to any story at your level. Your phone's own English voice reads the title and the text, and the word it is saying lights up. A player stays at the bottom while you scroll: open it to see the sentence in large type, go back or forward one sentence at a time, and choose normal or slow speed. A1 and A2 start slow. New words: a short deck for the words you save. Swipe right on one you know and prove it with a quick question; swipe left to see its card. A source link now opens in a sheet that slides up inside the app, so you never leave the story. Share a story's link, or a word card as a picture, from the share button. Also: smaller fixes.
