Father's Fieldbook
A daily rule for Catholic men
$0.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
One decisive action a day, drawn from the Church's calendar and the rule you chose. No account, no feed, nothing tracked. Your journal never leaves your phone.
Father's Fieldbook is a daily practice for Catholic men. It asks one thing of you each day, and it keeps the record of whether you did it.
THE STAND
Open the app and the day is already composed: the liturgical season, the feast if there is one, a line of Scripture, a short prayer, and one thing to do. Three minutes, then the day. No scrolling to find your place.
YOUR RULE
Choose three to five commitments — daily, weekly, or monthly. Check them honestly. The app shows evidence, not a score: "Kept 5 of the last 7 days." There are no streaks to break and nothing to lose. On Sunday you review the week and decide what to keep, drop, or replace.
THE GUIDES
Behind the rule sit field guides written plainly: the morning offering, the examen, Confession, Sunday Mass, the Rosary, the household budget, the smoke alarms, the first three minutes of an emergency. Each one lists the sources it draws on — Scripture, the Catechism, the American Heart Association, the Red Cross — so you can check the work.
IT MEETS YOU WHERE YOU ARE
Tell it whether you are a young man, a husband, or a father, and the guides speak to the life you actually have. A man with no children is not told what to teach his children.
A PRIVATE JOURNAL
A line a day, or a longer entry when something is worth keeping. Everything stays on your device and exports as plain text whenever you want it.
RESET
For the moment you are about to lose your temper. One tap, always free, no account.
WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO
No account. No sign-in. No feed, no followers, no social area of any kind. No photos, recordings, contacts, or location. No ads, no analytics, no trackers. Your rule and your journal stay on your phone, and nobody at Iron & Oak can see them.
It is a lay formation aid, not an official catechism, and not a substitute for your parish or your priest. The safety guides are general education, not medical advice — in an emergency, call 911, and take a certified first aid and CPR class.
