BlurFold finds the things you did not mean to share — faces, printed text, card numbers, barcodes — and hides them before you send a photo on.
Everything happens on your device. BlurFold has no network code and no network permission: there is no account, no server and no analytics, and nothing to switch off.
WHAT IT FINDS
• Faces, covered with pixelation coarse enough to actually hide someone
• Any block of readable text
• Card numbers, IBANs, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, dates of birth, any number six digits or longer, and lines that mention a password, passport, account or policy number
• Barcodes and QR codes, which often carry a name or a booking reference in plain text
• Obscene words and slurs, if you choose to hide them — each word hidden on its own, not the whole line
• People — blurred whole, just their clothes with the face left as it is, or everything around them

ON THE MAC
Right-click photos or a whole folder in Finder and pick a preset. A folder of fifty photographs takes seconds. Every preset is also available to Shortcuts, so you can wire it into whatever you already automate.
YOUR ORIGINALS ARE SAFE
Every run writes a new file beside the original: photo.jpg becomes photo-blurred.jpg. Replacing an original happens only after you confirm a list of the files by name.
METADATA GOES TOO
By default the output keeps only what an image needs to display. The location it was taken, the camera's serial number, captions, and the embedded thumbnail — which is a small copy of the unblurred photo — are all removed.
A NOTE ON BLUR
Gaussian blur rearranges pixels rather than destroying them, and blurred text has been read back off published images more than once. That is why every preset whose job is redaction uses pixelation or a solid fill instead.
VIDEO
Open a video and BlurFold looks through it for faces, barcodes and text, then follows each one as it moves, so it stays hidden from the first frame it is in to the last. Pause anywhere to cover something it missed, and the box can follow what is under it. The clip plays back masked exactly as it will be saved, and its location and other metadata are removed too.
BLURFOLD PRO
BlurFold Pro is a yearly subscription with the first month free, for both your Mac and your iPhone. It adds five or more photos at once, your own presets, keeping the date or location, and replacing the original files. Finding and hiding faces, text, card numbers and barcodes is free for up to four photos at a time, and always will be. Videos longer than thirty seconds are part of BlurFold Pro; shorter ones are free.
