Dither Weather turns the real forecast into a tiny, living scene on your desktop: animated ordered-dither pixel art in a riso print style, with a companion pet that reacts to the sky. Frameless and unobtrusive, it sits in a corner of your screen and keeps you quiet company, and pins on top with one click when you want it there.
Real, global weather. A pet that basks in the sun, grabs an umbrella in the rain and snowboards through a blizzard. A short poem for the day. A weather app that is actually nice to look at.
WHAT'S INSIDE
• Animated dithered weather scenes: 4×4 ordered-dither riso-pixel art that shifts with real conditions and the time of day (clear, cloud, rain, snow, storm, fog and more), in 13 scenery settings.
• A companion that reacts: choose a cat, dog, bunny, frog, octopus, bear, tanuki or panda. It responds to the headline weather: sun-basking, umbrella up, snowboard out, wide-eyed in a thunderstorm. It doesn't roam your desktop; it changes pose with the weather and idles with a slow breathing bob.
• Real global forecast: current conditions, feels-like, wind and gusts, humidity and pressure, plus hourly and 7-day outlooks. Powered by Apple Weather with a MET Norway fallback.
• Severe-weather alerts: in-effect warnings surface as a severity-colored banner with the agency's own instructions; a tornado warning takes over the whole scene.
• Day and night: a split-print night mode with the moon's phase beside the temperature, switched by hand or automatically at sunset.
• A poem for the weather, in 11 languages, each written in its own language rather than translated, drawn from a pool of hundreds. The Japanese poems are real haiku (5-7-5, with a seasonal word that changes with the month); the Chinese are 汉俳.
• Made to live on your desktop: frameless, draggable, resizable from a slim bar to full screen, pin-on-top when you want it. °C / °F, adjustable dither grain, and the whole interface in 10 languages.
• Make it yours: four colour moods (duotone, cyber, dusk, cool), your own outline and accent colours, four companion sizes, scenery that shuffles on a timer, and an interface sized the way you like.
• Search anywhere: type a city, a postcode, or paste coordinates.

Buy it once. No account, no subscription, no ads. Your chosen location is used only to fetch the weather; nothing personal is collected or sold.
The translations were written by hand and have not yet been reviewed by native speakers, so they are labelled beta in the app. If one lands wrong, click SEND FEEDBACK in Settings to copy our address, and tell us the language and the line.
Dither Weather is a decorative desktop widget, not a safety tool. Forecasts and severe-weather alerts come from third-party providers, are delivered on a best-effort basis, and may be delayed, incomplete, approximated, wrong, or missing altogether. Alert coverage varies by country. Do not rely on Dither Weather for any decision affecting safety, health, property, or travel — for severe weather, always consult your official national weather service.

• Nearby earthquakes: Dither Weather now notices smaller quakes close to you, from magnitude 2.5, and how far it looks grows with each quake's strength. A small one nearby shows up; a big one farther away still does. Small quakes are listed best in the United States.
• When a quake is close, your companion is startled for an hour and the scene trembles for a little while.
• A new icon.
• Your size stays put: the app grows with its window until you choose a size, then keeps yours. ⌘ + and ⌘ − set it; ⌘ 0 goes back to automatic.
• A quiet reminder in Settings and under the alert list: Dither Weather is not a safety tool, so always follow official warnings. When your weather comes from Apple, Settings also shows the Apple Weather mark.
