Write Nepali on your Mac using familiar Roman letters. Lekha is a free, offline menu bar writing app: compose in its editor, then copy your text into another app. TYPE, CONVERT, AND KEEP WRITING Type a Romanized word and press Space to convert it to Nepali. Choose alternative spellings beside the cursor with arrow keys or numbered shortcuts. Switch to Roman mode for English text. MAKE IT YOUR OWN Save names and preferred spellings in your personal dictionary. Your draft saves automatically on your Mac. Standard selection, copy, paste, cut, and undo work in the editor. USEFUL WRITING TOOLS Insert Nepali punctuation, digits, and vowel modifiers. Revisit converted words during the current session. Copy the whole draft with one click or Command-Shift-C. PRIVATE AND OFFLINE Transliteration and suggestions run locally. No account, internet connection, ads, subscription, or in-app purchase is required. Lekha does not collect your writing or personal dictionary. The Mac App Store edition is a standalone editor. It does not install a system keyboard or type directly into other apps; use Copy and Paste to move your writing. Suggestions come from a local phonetic engine and vocabulary, so uncommon words and names may need manual correction. Requires macOS 14 or later.
