Should we go out today? Navigate Boats answers in plain words, before you've found the other flip-flop.
Pick where you're going and get a verdict for right now, or for the hour you slide to. "Go. It's a good one." Or: "Jugo. Stay in." The board wears the warning colours you know from the weather service, but it never leaves you to decode them: just the answer, the reason, and when it changes.
Built on the eastern Adriatic, from Slovenia to Montenegro, for small boats: the ones with a picnic basket, a cousin who "knows the way", and a life jacket in every size. Tell it where you moor and what you're on, and it starts with your harbour. Search a town or a village by name, tap the water on the chart, or paste the coordinates of the cove or island the search doesn't know, and it joins your list beside the stops of your saved trips. The list starts empty: we wouldn't presume to know your favourite bay.
WHAT'S ABOARD
SETUP. Two short lines and you're away: where you moor (the towns nearest you, a search or a tap on the chart), how long she is, open boat, cabin cruiser or sailboat, and whether the kids are aboard (that tightens every margin, as it should).
NOW. One board, one answer, for the place you pick, or your mooring until you do. Green, yellow, orange or red, with the words to match, and a little boat that rolls, heels and gets its sails wet with the forecast, and stays moored on a day to stay in. Wind, gusts and waves, the wind by its local name (the Bura and the Jugo keep their names; we won't translate them), and a line that says when it improves or turns. It reads the whole sea region and the next few hours, not one spot, DHMZ's wind warnings floor it, and it says where and when ("gusts 48 kn at Senj around 14:00"). Details holds the next 48 hours, every reading, a six-day outlook and the wind and sea trend.
PLAN. Plan a trip on the map: leave from your mooring, where you are or a place you search for, tap the map where you'd like to stop, search a place by name or paste coordinates, set your cruising speed and when you're leaving, and it works out the distance, the time there and back, when you'd be home and whether that's before sunset. The verdict for the whole passage, every hour of it, sits right there, with its own details. Save it to My trips, or on this iPhone if you'd rather not sign in. Straight lines, not a sea route round the coast: plan fuel and time on more than this.
TRIPS. Everything you've planned, here or on navigate.boats, in one list. Tap one and it opens in Plan, stops and all.
ACCOUNT. Your mooring and your boat, to change whenever you like. Knots, km/h or mph; nautical miles or kilometres; °C or °F: your call. All of it stays on this iPhone. Signing in is optional: Apple, Google or an emailed link brings your saved trips, or don't, and use everything else. Sign out on this phone only, or delete the account and everything on it, after one clear question.
THE SMALL PRINT, IN LARGE TYPE
Free. No ads. No tracking. No analytics. Your position stays on the phone (Setup looks once, to offer the towns nearest you), with one exception you choose: a trip you save to your account from where you are takes its starting point with it. Forecasts and place search come from Open-Meteo (a search sends only the name you type), the wind warnings from DHMZ, and the verdict maths is the same as on navigate.boats, so the phone and the website agree.
A forecast is a forecast. The verdict is a second opinion for a sensible day out, not a promise from the sea. If the water looks wrong, it is.
More coast is coming. Search keeps to Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro for now; pasted coordinates and forecasts work anywhere, and the local wind names and shelter hints are the Adriatic's. If the search doesn't know your bay, paste its coordinates and write to contact@navigate.boats about its shelter. We'll argue politely.
Made by one skipper for the friends who kept asking "so, are we going?"
Ratings & Reviews

The sea behind the verdict has started moving. It has opinions.
• Detailed sea: Now's board sits on water that moves with the forecast, flat-ish on a calm morning and cresting when the wind gets serious. If you'd rather the phone stayed cool and the sea stayed put, Account → Detailed sea turns it off, and the switch now tells the truth about which it is.
• The tabs read Now, Trips, Plan, Account, in the order most mornings go: look outside, remember last weekend, plan this one.
• Account → Feedback: a thumbs up or down on whether Now got the weather right. It stays on your iPhone and goes nowhere, unlike a skipper's opinion of the forecast at the bar.
• When the sea forecast fails to arrive, the wind still shows. Half a forecast beats a blank board.
• A trip waiting to be sent can no longer be overwritten by a bad file. It waits, as boats do.
The Jugo has still not been consulted. It has, however, started leaving reviews.
