Netvane keeps your live network throughput in the macOS menu bar, where you can see it without opening anything or interrupting what you are doing.

Pin two of these to the menu bar stacked, or four side by side. All of them are always in the dropdown, alongside a live graph of the last few minutes.
A BUILT-IN SPEED TEST
When the connection feels wrong, test it without leaving the menu bar. Netvane measures download, upload, latency and jitter against Cloudflare's free public endpoint. There is no account to make and no sign-up, and no result is ever recorded or sent anywhere.
READABLE, AND STILL
A menu bar item that resizes every second drags every icon beside it across the screen. Netvane draws its figures on a reserved width so the readout holds still, and averages over a few seconds so the number does not lurch. A direction with nothing moving on it can drop out altogether rather than sit there showing zeros.
UNITS THAT MATCH HOW YOU THINK
Bits or bytes. Decimal or binary. Automatic scaling, or a unit pinned so the width never changes at all. Zero, one or two decimal places. Monospaced digits, or the system font.
SIX THEMES
System and Graphite follow the menu bar's own tint. Nord, Solarized, Dracula and Terminal bring their own colour. Every palette is contrast-checked against a translucent menu bar in both light and dark appearance, because the desktop behind it shows through.
MEASURED FROM THE SOURCE
Throughput is read straight from the kernel's own 64-bit interface counters. Netvane follows whichever connection currently holds the default route — Wi-Fi, Ethernet, a tethered iPhone — and switches with it, or you can pick the interfaces yourself.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Netvane collects nothing. No analytics, no tracking, no account, no telemetry of any kind. Your preferences stay on your Mac. The only network request it ever makes is the speed test, and only when you ask for one.
SMALL AND SANDBOXED
Fully sandboxed, hardened, and built for Apple silicon and Intel. It sits in the menu bar and stays out of the Dock.
