The Modern IPTV
Your IPTV service, made simple
Free · In‑App Purchases
Modern IPTV is a player for the IPTV service you already subscribe to. It contains no channels, films or shows of its own.
WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE IT WILL PLAY ANYTHING
1. An account with an IPTV provider. You buy that from the provider, not from us. We do not sell, host, bundle or supply any channels, films, shows or playlists, and none come with the app.
2. A Modern IPTV membership, sold here as an in-app purchase. Free for your first year, then $1.00 per year (or the local equivalent).
Without both of the above, there is nothing for the app to play. The screenshots show the app signed in to our own demo service: its films are Blender Studio's open movies (© Blender Foundation, CC BY, studio.blender.org), and everything else in it is invented.
LIVE TV, DONE RIGHT
• A real guide: every channel you get with what's on now and next, hours ahead, on one screen
• Browse by category, keep favorites, and jump back to recent channels
• Search live shows by name and see when and where they air
• Reliable playback, even for streams that other players stumble on
MOVIES AND SHOWS
• Artwork, cast, ratings and details, matched automatically to what your provider carries
• Up Next picks up right where you left off, on every device
• Seasons and episodes laid out so you can just press play
• Plays the formats providers actually use, including MKV
• Ask about any title and get an answer on your device from Apple Intelligence
YOUR TEAMS
• Follow your teams across football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer, from major leagues to college and European competitions
• See who's playing, when, and which of your channels has the game
• Optional game reminders. Never marketing.
EVERY APPLE DEVICE
One membership works on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro. Sign in with Apple on one device and your login, favorites, teams and progress follow you through iCloud. Apple TV signs in by scanning a code with your iPhone, so there's nothing to type with the remote. Siri and Shortcuts can open your channels and shows.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No ads, no tracking, no analytics. Your provider login stays in your devices' Keychain and your own iCloud. We run no servers and never see what you watch.
ABOUT THE MEMBERSHIP
The membership is what you buy from us, and it unlocks the app itself, not any content. It is free for your first year, then $1.00 per year. That dollar covers Apple's yearly developer fee, and it is the only reason there is a price at all. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when the free year ends. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it anytime in your App Store subscription settings; you keep access until the period ends.

more iPHONE DUO
• Standing half open, the picture moves right up to the top edge and the status bar steps aside, like Apple's TV app.
• Pinch the bottom half to zoom the picture in and out.
• The picture's colors softly light up the half lying flat, like a screen's light on a table, brighter in a bright room. Choose Light, Medium, Bright or Off with the button beside the brightness slider, or in Settings.
NEXT EPISODE
• Info shows the Next Episode as soon as the episode starts, and keeps trying when your TV service is slow to answer.

WATCH ALONGSIDE OTHER APPS
• Beside another app on iPhone Duo or iPad, the player keeps its picture in the middle, like Apple's TV app.
• Modern IPTV and the other app no longer stop each other's video. While the other app plays its sound, ours turns down, and the speaker button mutes ours completely.
• Close the other app and our sound comes back by itself.
SPORTS
• Every club in the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1, so more games find their channels.
• Live scores sit between the two crests, so each number is beside its team.
• Your teams' games are found much faster.
iPHONE DUO
• The tab bar sits at the bottom, and at the bottom right with Duo open flat, like Apple's apps.
• Standing half open, the remote below the fold fades away and comes back with a tap, and has a brightness slider.
• Info has a Next Episode button.
SIGNING IN
• Update Login Details shows your saved login after Face ID or your passcode, and is still there after you switch to Mail or Notes for a password.
• Paste your provider's welcome email and the details fill themselves in.
• Backup server addresses: if the main one is down, Modern IPTV switches to the backup by itself.
• Moving a stream from another of your devices explains the short wait while your TV service frees it.

MADE FOR iPHONE DUO
• Unfold iPhone Duo and Modern IPTV spreads across the big screen, with a sidebar for everything.
• Stand it half open while you watch: the picture stays on top and the controls move to the bottom, like a small TV with its own remote.
• Fold it shut mid-film and it keeps playing on the outside screen, right where you were.
• Watch Now's banner grows to fit the big screen, so the artwork isn't cropped to a close-up.

SMOOTHER FILMS AND EPISODES
• A glitch in a file's timing no longer jumps you to the next episode.
• A damaged spot in a file is skipped past instead of freezing the picture or reopening again and again.
• A file that stops before its end picks up again just past the spot.
• Try Again resumes where you were.
• When a film's main sound can't be played, another of its sound tracks plays and the app tells you which.

LIVE CHANNELS THAT STOP
When a live channel's feed stops at your TV service, the app now switches to another copy of the same channel if your service has one, or tells you the channel has stopped, instead of opening it again and again.
1.0.10 Oct 11
STEADIER PLAYBACK
Fixes a crash that could happen when closing the player. A show that freezes on its first picture, or stops arriving partway through, now opens again on its own, and tells you if it still won't play.
1.0.9 Oct 8
NEXT EPISODE, YOUR WAY
Choose when the next episode starts: as the credits roll, or 10 seconds to a minute before the end. With autoplay off, it waits on a card until you tap Play.
A FILM TO FOLLOW
When a film ends, a similar one from your service is suggested, so the screen never goes blank.
ASK ABOUT ANY LEAGUE
Ask "Is there an NFL game on?" and see every game being played, with the channels showing it.
SMOOTHER HANDOFF
When you start watching on another of your devices, it now waits for your TV service to free the stream instead of giving up.
NO MORE STUCK SPINNER
If a show freezes on its first picture, it now opens again on its own, and the remote keeps working while it does.
1.0.8 Oct 5
SMOOTHER FIRST MINUTES
A show you start right after opening the app no longer stalls while the app checks for new titles in the background.
AIRPLAY IN STEP
When you start watching on AirPlay speakers, the sound no longer slips out of step for a moment as they connect.
SKIPS KEEP PLAYING
Skipping back or ahead 10 seconds in Picture in Picture no longer pauses the show.
1.0.7 Oct 4
LIVE TV THAT GETS GOING
A live channel that sits waiting for a picture now sorts itself out, switching to the other player if it has to, instead of waiting forever.
BACK TO THE CHANNELS
After watching a game on a channel you picked from its list, going back takes you to that list, ready to try another.
1.0.6 Oct 3
SMOOTHER PLAYBACK
Shows and films encoded in HEVC now play on your iPhone's hardware decoder: smoother, cooler and easier on the battery.
A PICTURE THAT STAYS PUT
The picture no longer plays shrunk into a corner, or goes black, after Picture in Picture or turning your iPhone.
CLEARER WAITING
When your TV service is still closing the last stream, the player says so and tries again at a steadier pace, instead of looking frozen.
1.0.5 Oct 2
A PLAYER LIKE THE TV APP
Held upright, the picture sits at the top with Info, InSight and Continue Watching below it. Turned sideways, the controls float over the picture. Double-tap either side to go back or forward ten seconds.
SKIP INTRO, AND THE NEXT EPISODE AT THE CREDITS
Skip Intro and Skip Recap appear while they play, and the next episode is offered as the closing credits start, on shows with community timings.
CATCH THE LINE YOU MISSED
Going back ten seconds replays that part with subtitles, then turns them off where you were. A small Hide Subtitles button is there if you only wanted to hear it again. Subtitles now show white on a dark box.
PICTURE IN PICTURE
Swipe down on the picture to float it. Going back to full screen is smooth, the sound carries on, and skipping in the floating window keeps playing.
SMOOTHER PLAYBACK
The picture no longer freezes after you pull down Notification Center. Films that were slow on a plan that allows one stream start sooner and keep playing. Switching between channels and shows is quicker, and a network that blocks your TV service now says so.
ASK
Ask finds the latest episode of a show, titles like one you love, and short names like SNL.
LIBRARY AND DOWNLOADS
Alerts when a show on your watchlist gets a new episode, Clear History, and a choice of movies or shows first. A download your TV service turns away tries again on its own.
1.0.4 Sep 30
CHANNELS THAT WOULDN'T OPEN
If your TV service turned a channel away, because it was still holding the last one you watched or another device was using your plan, the player gave up at once. It now waits a moment, tries again, and tells you what it's doing.
STALLS RECOVER ON ONE-DEVICE PLANS
When a channel stalls on a plan that allows one device at a time, the player now reopens it, instead of trying a second connection that the plan always refused.
1.0.3 Sep 25
SET UP A NEW DEVICE WITHOUT TYPING
Sign in on a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Vision Pro and your TV service login, watchlist and Up Next arrive from your other devices. If the network you are on blocks your TV service, as some work and school networks do, the app now tells you so instead of asking for a login you already have, and connects by itself when you move to another network.
A NEW LOGIN REACHES ALL YOUR DEVICES
Change your TV service login on one device and the others switch to it, even while another device is busy watching. They no longer drift back to the old one.
NOTHING GOES MISSING
If a device ever missed part of your watchlist or Up Next, it now fills in the rest from iCloud the next time it opens. Moving to a new login no longer takes favorites off your other devices.
WORKS WITH MORE TV SERVICES
Some services send their channel, film and series lists in a way that stopped them loading on a new device. They load now.
1.0.2 Sep 24
YOUR LANGUAGE, EVERYWHERE
Films, shows and channels now match the language you picked, instead of merely being sorted by it. Settings > Streaming Language shows what your service actually carries, with a count for each language, and lets you turn the filter off or leave Live TV out of it. Your library is never filtered: whatever you saved stays where you put it.
EVERYTHING KEEPS UP ACROSS YOUR DEVICES
Watchlist, Up Next — including where you stopped in an episode — followed teams and live TV now travel through iCloud in seconds rather than whenever the app felt like it. Remove something on your iPhone and it is gone from your Apple TV, and the other way round.
SUBTITLES START OFF
Captions stay off unless you ask for them. The new Settings > Captions page turns them on and chooses a language.
EVERYTHING IN LIVE TV
Browse and Guide have an All button that lists every channel you get, your own language first.
ON APPLE TV
Left and right on the remote skip ten seconds without the menu appearing, OK pauses and resumes, live channels start playing on their own, and the loading circle no longer sits over a show that is already playing.
ALSO FIXED
Cast and crew appear at once instead of taking the best part of a minute. Episodes use their own artwork rather than the show's poster. The app no longer opens to an empty library after a hard close when iCloud is slow to answer.
